  1. Thats what I was after. Thanks for your help Bill
  2. My 04 Galaxy Ghia (1.9 tdi) had a warning on its MOT last year that both front macpherson struts had excessive movement at the upper attachment, and they would need replacement. I've read all the info on this site about them being tested on movable plates, but i'd like the actual chapter and verse from VOSA. I've tried searching on the VOSA site with no joy. Can anyone supply me with a link to the section on the VOSA site please. Thanks in advance Bill
  3. What Sparky said. Mine goes in on Wednesday to be repaird.
  4. No Mate, just sounds noiser, as in a louder diesel engine noise (like the old ones) Anyway, Popped over to my local repair garage who think its the aux belt and tensioner. I've booked it in for Wednesday, I'll let you know what happens? Cheers Bill
  5. Strange one here guys Over the last couple of days I
  6. Cheers Guys, much appreciated
  7. Following an accident in my 04 Galaxy tdi, I managed to wreck the front of my car. The repairs have been carried out, but the radiator appears to sitting at an angle. I
  8. Just a quick update Pulled the rubber boot off the wire connector in the drivers door. Found two cables that were split (electric window cables) and the copper wire was showing, Put tape over those two. There was one wire that had separated from the connector block thingy. The break was actually in the block (it looked like the metal had snapped somehow) I could see no way to pull out the spade connector from the block, so I used some tin foil and araldite. All works OK now. It
  9. Cheers mate I'll have a dig around over the weekend. Bill
  10. After trawling through pages of door lock problems, I think I may have a unique one. Car is an 04 1.9tdi. when I press the remote key the drivers door does not unlock, All other door open fine, but not the drivers one. Now for the strange bit, If I relock the car, unlock it, relock it and unlock it the drivers door unlocks correctly. Therefore the door will not open unless I unlock/relock three times. If I only try twice it will not work, and if I try four times it stays locked. If I get a passenger to open the drivers door from inside the alarm goes off when I try to start the car, and the same thing happens if I open the door with the key! Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill
  11. Hi Guys Can anyone tell me what size the inner CV joint nuts are. I believe they are some sort of spline drive.? I'm replacing the inner CV boot on a 04 Derv. Thanks Bill
  12. Sorry Guys I'm a bit confused, What model and years does this recal relate to??? Thanks Bill
  13. I Picked up the brochure from my local Fords, Looks very nice......But all the pictures were of ones with all the options, so it would look nice!!!!!
  14. Just to keep you all updated. Picked the car up yesterday afternoon. All work had been done under warranty. New N/S drop link (2nd one in less than 5 months), new aux heater exhaust and glow plug. I was out quite late last night, and whilst driving home I had to accelerate quite rapidly to avoid a di**khead in a sooped up Corsa. Noticed quite a bit of white smoke and I
  15. Well i've just picked my car up, NOT Fixed, in fact they had not even taken the car into the service bay...... Apparently the aux heater glowplug and exhaust needed replacing, although i told the service guy that the smoke comes out of the rear of the car and not the side, and that was not an item they keep in stock, so they had to order them in. 'its quite a rare part to go wrong'?????? They did'nt even look at the knocking suspension, its the drop link, even though it was replaced mid november... Obviously there is no courtesy Car, so its a train into work on Tuesday......
  16. Has anyone noticed that the drivers seat of thier Galaxy is wearing. The lower right bottom portion of the back of the seat appears to be wearing disporportionatly, and my car is less than two years old. Has anyone raised this with Ford.... I've been told its not a warranty item. Thanks Bill
  17. I recall a recent thread about the cost of Ford car mats (the carpet type) I've just had one made by a carpet shop (run by a mate), for the first row of seats (it seems kids are unable to keep thier muddy feet on the smaller mats). I cut out a template from some lining paper and asked the shop to cut and bind a piece of black carpet. It looks great and covers the whole floor area behind the front seats with a little bit that goes under the front seats. Bill
  18. Booked my galaxy in for some warranty work (late 04 tdi with 17000 on the clock), including a second drop link in less than six months. One problem I
  19. Can anyone suggest a typical life span for a set of drop links? Thanks Bill
  20. If you are in 'sarf' London i'd reccommend Vampire Tints (www.vampiretints.co.uk) in Penge. I don't know if they are expensive/cheap, but they did a damm good job, and they used the film that did'nt require you to wait two days to open your windows. Anyway Sharan, All windows including the ones next to the dash -
  21. does anybody know why fords stopped painting the plastic trim on the Galaxys doors (the bit down towards the bottom)? Has anyone successfully had them painted (so it does not all flake off) Cheers Bill
  22. Hi Tried it on an old for Capri i had - Nice flat windows, it was a doddle Tried it on my Sharan........wasted
  23. Thanks for that reply JB, I did a bit of digging around, the car was originally supplied from Little hampton on the south coast and sold to someone who lives in cleveland (up north?) I spoke to the previous keepers Mum, who claimed that her son had never had a Galaxy, and anyway he's been in germany for the past four years serving in the British Army? I looked a bit closer at the dealers stamp on the service history a little closer, and yes you've guessed it, it was serviced in Germany. Fords have agreed to supply me with a replacement vehicle, but it 'might take some time to locate one'. so i'm writing to them today to confirm this offer, and ask for a courtesy car. Oh, and one thing i did forget to mention..... I am a Trading Standards Officer... Although Fords don't know this yet. Cheers Bill
  24. Recent trip to Tuscany i was getting 48mpg on the motorways. (2004 110bhp tdi Galaxy). I think thats the best fuel consumption i've ever had in a car.... Bill
  25. Thanks for that MM. I realise i probably don't have the right to reject the car and ask for refund. The other faults are minor but niggly. 1. headlining dropping at back 2. versitility pack missing although was part of the sale (there are marks on the fabric as though a load cover has been in use) 3. Curbed wheel 4. some sort of paint spatter on steering wheel 5. Creaking headlining and drivers side interior trim. Although the car was a year old, it was described as immaculate condition with no accident damage. Fords saw the car yesterday and admitted that the two panels had been resprayed, but they do not know why. and are willing to respray them to match the car. I told them that i would not have bought the car with the damage (I bought it blind from thier ford direct scheme), and would like it replaced a different car (same model etc). They are thinking about it. What i'm now trying to do is work out what sort of reduction in the purchase price I can ask if they refuse to replace the car. Any Ideas???? Cheers Bill
