  1. Thanks for the replies guys. I will have my mechanic mate take a look at these areas. Fingers crossed i wont be driving around a Vauxhall next week
  2. the decision will be taken out of my hands by this time next week i am afraid. I really would like to stick with the galaxy but the wife worries that it is going to break down and strand her with two little kids, i can see her point. other than this fault the car is spot on and she would be happy with it cheers
  3. I dont mind spending the money to have my ecu checked, just wondered how likely it would be that the ecu would produce the faults i am having without it showing up on a diagnostic Cheers for the reply
  4. Please help me. hi fellas I have had recurring intermitent fault with my 2002 2.3 petrol. Every now and again it misfires, all power cuts for a second you get a jolt like you have gone over a speed bump then it goes back to normal. Does this under all sorts of conditions so no common denominator. It used to happen once a week ish but now its happening more so the wife has demanded a new car, she has a deal worked out for a zafira chopping the galaxy in against it i have till next saturday to sort it or the galaxy goes. I have had a new set of leads and coil pack, cam sensor, crank sensor, fuel filters and a full service done. Nothing comes up on any diagnostic and i have had it to two places to run it on different diagnostic machines. I dont know what else it could be, mechanic is a guy i know well and he is at a loss as to what it is as well. He cant reproduce the fault in the workshop and has changed all the parts he thinks would cause it. The only option he can suggest is it may be ecu related and have that sent off and tested but he is still sceptical Does any one have any other ideas and is it worth having the ecu checked?? Please help before i end up with a vauxhall parked on the drive and i am 4k lighter in the pocket Cheers in advance
  5. i wonder if any technical gurus can give me any pointers. I posted on here a few weeks ago asking about a mis fire. I changed the plugs leads coil pack and had a full service done. The mis fire continued but it would go for days without doing it. I have taken it into a garage today where he has changed the Crank sensor and the cam sensor. After he had done this the car was undriveable. Ran ok at idle but as soon as it was revved it started misfiring really badly. Mechanic is scratching his head as the last time he ran a diagnostic check nothing came up. There are no engine management lights on the dash still. Any pointers would be really appreciated as i need it sorting quickly. Even any checks i could have done to narrow things down would help. Cheers
  6. Thanks for the welcome Paul. From what i saw the mechanic changed the plugs and leads. I think he also changed the coil pack but it was a single black box at the end of the engine that all the ht leads went to. Does that make sense? I sold the wifes X trail and replaced it with this in a cost cutting drive. It may spectacularly back fire on me yet !! Cheers
  7. Hi Fellas, I am new on here so please be gentle. I will give you as much detail as i can about my problem and hopefully someone may be able to point me in the right direction. Here Goes I bought an 02 2.3 petrol manual galaxy with 60k on the clock a couple of weeks ago for the mrs to run the kids round. All seemed ok but as i drove it for the first few days i noticed that every now and then it would mis fire for a split second so it felt like you had gone over a speed bump. I took it to a trusted local garage and he ran a diagnostic check and there were no faults but as it hadnt been serviced for a while he also changed the plugs ,leads and fuel filter. I handed the car over to the wife last week and all seemed well. However a phone call from her today and its happening again. Seems to be happening when engine is accelerating or under load. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Its going back to the garage on Friday for a proper service but i would rather he changed absolutely anything which could be at fault to save it breaking down with the wife an kids aboard. I work away all week and if it did break down the Mrs would most likely have it towed to the nearest Ford dealer and part ex it for a brand new one !! Please help !! Cheers
