After 4.5 years of trouble filled motoring in my 1995 2.0i GLX Galaxy, I have finally defected to the Citroen Xsara Picasso. Thank you to all who have helped with my issues over these past few years - you can find me now at citroenpicasso.org.uk ;) BYE
It looks to me like aircon reliability will be a much bigger issue with all those extra windows!!! Or maybe it will be a great place to grow your tomatoes :D
I have a 10 disc Kenwood changer under the drivers seat (unsecured but it works fine) - I can't see the 12 disc being much bigger. BTW - A woman went into a pub and asked for a double-entendre, so the barman gave her one!
The pedal has been soft for a while. On the 2 occasions that it happened yesterday the pedal just failed completely - nothing there - but came back with a "pump" on the pedal. I had been using the brakes a little more than usual a little earlier (fast run along the bypass with heavy braking at the roundabouts).
I have noticed that when I press the horn button on my galaxy, the dash lights go out! They come back on when the horn is released. Has anybody else had/got this problem? If so, what is likely to be causing it?
Yesterday the brakes on my Galaxy failed completely twice - lifting off the pedal and reapplying brought them back on both occasions. Has anybody else had this problem and found a simple solution? I had thought that it could be one of the following: Air in the system Breakdown of brake fluid Worn pads Jiggered master cylinder Of all of these I am hoping for one of the top two. Any advice will be much appreciated.
I have a 2.0 and the RPMs are exactly the same - 3500 at 70mph in 5th gear. It's the highest reving engine I've ever had to contend with. Has anybody tried changing the gearbox on one of these? I'm sure that must have a detrimental effect on fuel economy at speed - how about a mod to make 5th gear a real overdrive?
On the Mk 1 this works from all key operated doors (if they are connected - my passenger door lock has disconnected - any advice on how to fix?) Also, I have noticed that my sunroof will close with the global closure but it will not open with global opening - is this normal?
Great set of speakers - i have them in my Gal Mk1. Don't bother trying to fit with the grilles on as they wont fit behind the door card :D (see the post referenced above). If (like me) you are not too keen on cutting the original connectors off, go to your local independant ICE supplier and get some of these: http://img197.echo.cx/img197/8265/picture00926lm.jpg They are speaker connection converters and I got 4 of these from RCA Cheadle for
When changing my speakers I found this connector in each of the doors http://img102.echo.cx/img102/1636/picture00940wm.jpg I thought it might be for rear electric windows until I found that all 4 doors had one! Any ideas what it should be connected to?
This only applies to the Mk II - If you leave the grilles on a Mk I you will knock the original (plastic) grille off (though you may not know this until you get to the passenger side as the driver's door appears to have a bit more clearance!) Also, leaving the grilles on for the rear door speakers is impossible as the grille gets in the way of the door card clip hole as can be seen in the image below <_< http://img299.echo.cx/img299/1562/picture00969sc.jpg
