hello all, i was wondering if someone could help me out, i was on my way back from holiday, just pulled onto the the motorway slip road and the gearbox seized up, the aa came out and said they would have to tow it home, do you think its a new gearbox job or could there be a more simple fix, any advice would be appreciatedas i t will be going on ebay very soon.cheers

seat kid, its the correct part number, its a cheap aftermarket replacemant but its acting exactly the same as before i changed it, i thought it was definitely a maf problem,will check the boost hose today,i replaced the air filter a couple of months prior to the maf, do you think this could be an issue? as for diagnostics, it didnt show any errors at all. thanks both

another thing i should say is, when it hits 30000rpm if i let my foot of the accelerator then put it back down it will slowly creep up, realy getting to me now!

hello all, back again witht he same problem i posted about months ago, here we go, when in 4th or 5th the engine loses power at 30000rpm then slowly creeps up to 35000rpm and thats it, gets to about 75mph, it pulls really well up to 3rd gear.ive just replaced the maf and cleaned the egr system, realy not sure what else it could be, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.cheers

personally i was under the impression theyre a straight swap but being 19 " u might want to check the clearance 1st, shouldnt be a problem as gals have quite abit of arch space

jacked her up today and got to the turbo, the two braided hose are quite perished and one looks as its split, they look like they have a o/d of 10mm ish and i know one goes to the tube coming of the air box, can anyone tell me there part number or will it be ok to change them with some stainless steel braided hose with the same i/d? and i also would like to know how to check the actuator.cheers

lol, il give that a go but it had a good thrashing yesterday and its still happening, just spoke to a friend of mine and he had the same problem and he ran the diagnostics and it was because the exhaust was blowing and it cause a fault.

just been reading a post on another site and someone has been having the same problem and its been suggested thats its a lhm (limp home mode) due to a poor connection in the engine wiring or a faulty ecu, anyone had a problem like this before?

no its fine all the way up to 5th i did notice it was happening in 4th at about 30k rpm aswel

HELLO ALL, COULD DO WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS AS IM A BIT STUCK, JUST CHANGED FROM A PETROL GALAXY TO A TDI ALHAMBRA, LOVELY CAR, GOOD CONDITION, ITS DONE 170K BUT FULL SERVICE HISTORY, HERE'S MY PROBLEM IT PULLS WELL UP TO 4TH GEAR BUT WHILST ON THE MOTORWAY TODAY I NOTICED A PROBLEM, AT ABOUT 30- 31K RPM AND AROUND 80 MPH IT SEEMS TO HIT A LAG AND DROP BACK DOWN TO 65ISH AND IT WONT GO MORE THAN 80, NOT SURE IF ITS TURBO RELATED IT DOES'NT DO IT ALL THE TIME BUT I WOULD LIKE TO FIGURE IT OUT, ALL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME

thanks big kev, it did help. the holes are there but blanked off under the lining, gotta take the seat belt mount off tomorrow any way to get the trim out so il have a look then, thanks for the help

hello, i have a mk1 galaxy, does anyone know if the electric window motors are universal, can i put one of the rear n/s window and put it on the front o/s window, thanks

i have a mark one galaxy 96 glx, ive just bought a spares ghia off ebay and giving my glx a revamp, the ghia has standard roof bars and i would like to fit them on the glx, does anyone know how to remove them and whether there is attachments on the glx to connect them, any help would be appreciated
