i agree the resistor will be the problem, its the same on most cars Thankyou guys for your help...will give it a try. Just got back from a 30 mile trip and it started working on the way then packed up on the way back! Thanks again.

Hi everyone, I have just joined today and this is my first post! I have a 2000 'X' TDi auto. The heater fan only works on 3&4 and will not allow the a/c to be selected. When in positions 1&2 the blower does not work but the a/c light illuminates?? Can anyone help? Thanks, James.
