  1. ok cheers fella helps to know for sure
  2. thanks for the replys guys, no there are no vents in the roof lining, and i pointed that out to the guy today as i read that in the manual,he said that not all the f/b aircon models have those vents ??? he said that as the front control panel has front and back independent control that it means its a duel system ?? sounds a bit wrong to me to be honest, especially as my original mechanic who might i add has done my cars for about 6 years now and have found him to be incredibly honest, reckoned it was a single system not a duel,my original mechanic therefore put 700+50gms in but the guy today put 1100gms in,but neither worked anyway lol, this is all very confusing for me i gotta say,so just before closing time i popped down to my local ford, hoping to just approach a mechanic for a bit of advice, needless to say none of them would talk to me and pointed me towards service reception. well they were sorta helpfull but not really, wouldnt confirm wether it was a duel or a single system, but promptly told me that the early models suffered wih aircon problems,he also said it would be strange for the pipes in the back to develop a leak as they was alays dogged with leaks in the front end,he also said the pumps had a history of breaking down internally and agreed that if swarf was found in the coolant that its likely to be the pump, but could also be the main climate control panel, jesus christ something else to think about!! in the end he said they would be happy to take it in and gas it for
  3. hi all i wonder if anyone can help, ive just bought an 02 mk11 and had the climate control screen flash for 15 seconds so took it to my mechanic,he re gased the system and still never worked,ie got cold, after a wee inspection he beleived the compressor to have gone as he found the oil in the pipes to a bit gritty,he explained that wen the pump breaks down the swarf makes its way round the system, but ive just come back from another garage who have flushed the system and told me the results of whats come out are usual for normal use and doesnt beleive the pump has gone,he did a vacuum test and the system held pressure fine with no leaks,he then started the vehical and run the aircon, after a few minutes he turned everything off and re pumped out the system only retreiving 800gms,he has told me there is a leak in the back system now,a pipe or wateva is causing the problem. i need to ask if the system only had 700gms put in before by my other mechanic would the system not work,ie shut itself down as not enough was put in ie 1100gms,the first mechanic beleived it was a single system but this guy today has told me its front and back and that if only 700gms was put in it wouldnt work anyway as the pressures would all be wrong or summink,he also said that the gritty feel of what came out was normal,is that correct ??? apparently so im told today, the back system doesnt get included when you pump out under vaccum and only connects when the system is actual;ly being used,is this correct ???
