  1. Hi - got a '57 2.0TDCi Ghia. The problem is the central locking does not work most of the time. Won't work off the driver door or the remote fob, and this also seems to be tied to the windows and the mirrors also not working. Also a large eye 'i' appears on the driver information panel between speedo and rev counter. Mk2 Galaxy had wiring problems in the door looms that fed power to the windows, etc, which I fixed having researched the problem on this forum. Haven't seem any potential solutions in the Mk3 section - anyone had this problem and cured it, please?
  2. Hi All - I've had this problem and replaced the pulley on my 2002 1.9 TDi mk2 (85k miles). The tool you need is a Sealey SX400 kit - about
  3. At risk of stating something obvious that you've already tried, check the fuse for the blower (relays are pretty reliable and the fuse is deliberately the weak link in the electrical circuit. Good luck
  4. Hi All - my 2002 TDi manual Galaxy (84k miles) has started making a loud growly mechanical noise when carrying out low speed parking manoeuvres, typically involing lock to lock turning. Most noise is produced when close to or at full lock. I'm assuming it is tied up with the belt being worn (have owned the car from new and pretty sure it has never been replaced - looking at it you can see minor cracking on all areas of the belt when you twist it a little to see the underside), perhaps the tensioner or pulleys as well. Just looking for some confirmation that this might well be the case instead of it being something more serious/expensive. Has anyone had any similar experiences, please? Many thanks.
  5. Hi out there. I have a manual 2002 1.9 TDi with climate control. Climate control has never worked for very long - on regassing it is fine for about 2 weeks, with performance gradually tailing off. Was talking to an ex VAG trained vehicle electrician guy who had since gone into business on his own who came and fixed an electrical fault [very good by the way - in Hertfordshire area if you need one], he said that it was fairly common for the aircon system to leak at the evaporator and for it not to be detected as a leak by the fluorescent dye used to trace leaks. He also said that it is about a 5 hour job to get at the evaporator due to taking the dashboard etc off to get access. Has anyone done this job themselves, or have any hints (apart from not tackling it yourself)? Thanks
  6. Hi - fitted new front brake pads last night and want to bleed the front brakes but can't see where the brake fluid reservoir is to top up when I do this - any help gratefully received
