  1. to be honest i dont mind  B) waste of 2 days leave from work - but its done now dont get me started on the time i changed the 4 discs and pads on the RX7 - took me over 6 hrs to get a disc off - someone at mazda thought it would be funny to put a cast iron disc on alloy hub !!!! :D
  2. right after a few days of hell - i will let you all have a laugh !! 1 - bottom ball joint ended up spinning so took an age to get that off 2 - snapped the bolt in the 2nd hand suspension unit - spent 4 hrs trying to drill it out 3 - took it to a garage and they wanted
  3. got a hub from the breakers - with suspension on it managed to sheer the bolt which attaches the hub to the strut - never a good start B) so gonna drill that out in a bit not looking simple though and have you ever tried to get a caliper off a hub on the garage floor - not easy so will prob leave the mount of the caliper on the hub and then swap it out as a unit so its not a common problem - this is prob why we cant get a new hub any where oh well - its all fun and games eh !! Stu
  4. Hiya chaps first post here so bear with me B) the better half brother just bought a R Reg 1.9 TDi but its lost drive to the front wheel you can see the big 27mm nut spin when trying to drive it so thought it was a CV joint that had lost its splines - but now its stripped - it looks like the hub is shot is this a common problem or a one in a million chance ?? its done about 157K so pretty high milage in my eyes ;) is it easy to get the hub off - we have the bottom ball joint loose , the nut and bolt round the bottom of the suspension - so looks like its caliper off then the disc and steering arm - anything else i have missed or need to be aware of ???? Thanks Stu
