  1. 53 plate Ghia TDI 130. 59914 miles. MOT to 3rd November 2013. Loom is damaged/melted from passenger side to fusebox. Car drives and runs fine but central locking, electric windows and indicators don’t work. Probably more things too! Full grey leather interior in good condition. Driver seat bolster is a little bit worn – photo of this. It is the Elegance model with 5 spoke alloy wheels and DVD system installed. NOTE that the DVD player doesn’t work although it did before. This may be easy to fix – I don’t know. The TV’s are built into the leather headrests. I fitted a new air conditioning condenser last year as the old one had a leak. Lots of good parts and would make a great value car if you could be bothered replacing the loom! Car was worth £3500 to £4000 until 3 weeks ago when this happened!! Good condition straight motor. The only real blemish is a parking scrape on NSF bumper and wing. Looking for £1500 for complete vehicle as I do not have the time or inclination to attempt to repair it.
  2. Thanks guys. an update. Spark was adamant fuse box was blown - got one off ebay and it's fixed the windows! Indicator is still blinking constantly so it seems a more comprehensive strip down is required than just the gaiters to find the short circuit(s). Don't know if it's worth mentioning but I used a plug in tyre inflator in the power outlet on the Friday night just before all the faults started on the Saturday. It was only for 2 or 3 minutes but I didn't run the engine! Coincidence? Thanks
  3. Hi, need some assistance please. 2004 53 plate TDI 130 has failed spectacularly. Wouldn't start then it suddenly did after a half hour. Sensors tell me driver door is open when driving. Left indicator started blinking and will not stop. Windows went down and won't go up. Switched off engine and removed key - engine ran for another 10 minutes! Auto spark has diagnosed it as faulty BCM/fuse box. Part number 7M3962258AD. £850 new from Ford!! Looking on ebay there are several variations - the same number but not AD at the end. Question is will a module with AH, L, M etc work on my car. Have been advised that it must be from a 2003 manual vehicle. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi again guys, finally got round to popping audio cable on the audio out sockets of the DVD player. But the same fault! Exactly the same sound (or hiss). Looks like it's the player itself that is at fault. Anybody had experience of this? Thanks again everybody
  5. Nice one, I'll have a look and let you know how I get on. Thanks
  6. Hi folks, I've got myself a nice 53 Galaxy 1.9TDi Ghia with full leather and DVD multimedia system. Even though it's a one owner , 40000 miler with FSH plate, I'm having bother with the DVD system. Looking through posts here I see it's an all too common thing. Anyway, the system worked fine for a few weeks then the sound stopped working (I use a small ipod/mp3 dock amplifier as my kids are too small for headphones). This became annoying and the time honoured tradition of giving it (the centre console) a thump worked and the sound was restored! For a few days. Now it is just a hit or a miss if it works. A couple of weeks ago one TV stopped working but then came back on again!! I dismantled the system to check for dodgy connections but found nothing untoward. So, does anyone have any experience of the same? I guess it's the control module that is at fault - unless anyone knows any better. I see it's not a cheap piece of kit to purchase so if anyone has one available for a decent price let me know. Failing that I shall purchase a full headrest DVD kit from ebay and change the whole system. Hopefully some of you can help. Thanks a lot Stuart
  7. Hi folks, going to buy a Galaxy so have joined up and been checking out this forum. Good stuff but not found a definitove answer to my questions. Anyone able to assist? Got a Mondeo Zetec S at the moment but upsizing due to children. Been on the Mondeo forum for a wee while. Looking at a 2005 TDi Ghia Galaxy. Advertised as 130bhp but has all red TDi badge. Is this not the 150bhp? Different posts seem to suggest different variants re the badge colour. Also, what are the service intervals - particularly timing belts? Some suggest 40000 miles, others 60000 miles. The 2 cars I'm looking at are around 38000 miles so should I be making sure that the belt is done? Looking forward to any info. Also any other stuff that I should be looking out for. The Mondeo has dodgy rear brake calipers that people should be wary of so I wonder if the Galaxy has any basic faults the buyer should beware of? Thanks a lot all. Cheers, Stuart
