  1. Hi, The high level brake light has stopped working on my Mk3 galaxy. I have had a quick look on how to remove the light to check the bulb, but cannot see how it comes away from the wehicle, can anyone help me out on this, to save me breaking the light using brute force.... Thanks
  2. Hi Traff, When i have taken to motor off, the linkage seems to move freely. I will try and seperate the spindle and clean it up. If this does not work, do you know if there is a relay that controls the motors on a MK3? I have voltage coming to the motors, but no motion..... Regards, John
  3. For anyone having the same problem or one of the problems above..... The car would not turn over as the started motor was stuck and had to be replaced. The power steering fault was down to an 80amp fuse being blown, which is under a cover on the side of the engine fuse box. Once all the above was sorted out, the car then stalled and wouldn't start. This was traced back to a small hole in the fuel supply pipe, which joins the metal pipe entering the rear of the engine bay to the fuel filter. The wires passing close to the pipe had rubbed a small hole into the pipe, which would seem to be a common fault with the MK3.
  4. Hi, I am having a real problem with my Mk 3 Galaxy. (Other post now sorted!!) The front wipers will not work. I have tested the power from the car to the motors, and there is no problem with the supply. The rear wiper works fine, but the front don't. Today i noticed that the driver side arm will not move when pushed by hand, but the passenger side will. 1) would this be a knackered motor? 2) Which fuses relays should be checked that control the motors? Thanks for any help on this subject.
  5. It has been suggested on the RAC forum that the problem i am having may be down to the 'GEM' module. Does anyone know what sort of price FORD will charge to replace the module and programme the computer? Thanks...
  6. I need some help desperately..... Several weeks ago the alarm started to activate every half hour, so i removed fuse 26 from the footwell fuse box, but the car kept saying that an alarm service was required......now things have got worse..... I went away for a week, and on return the Galaxy was a little reluctant to start, after a few attempts she fired. No problems for the next couple of days. Day 3 i had a low battery warning show on the dash console and then on day 4 the wipers would not operate. I have removed the 2 wiper motors, and have a 12v supply to each motor, the white and orange cable that links both motors (signalwire??) is fine, and the blue and yellow wire seems to supply the signal from the car. In a stroke of genuis or madness, i thought that maybe the battery had lost charge, so decided to connect the battery to a charger. On reconnecting the battery the alarm went crazy with hazard lights flashing. Now the car won't turn over, and displays a power steering fault message. This is a little worrying as the power steering rack and pump got replaced in may last year...surely this is due to an electrical fault?? Also there is no power to the radio..maybe a fuse at the rear of the radio.... Any help or advice would be appreciated, otherwise it's a trip to Ford for them to take a look at the car.
  7. I had a similiar thing with my MKIII, 2.0 TDCI, while in France, we got off the ferry in calais, and straight away the steering felt a bit strange, it would stick when turning right, and then 'pop' and would be fine again. After leaving the steering in the straight position for a short time then turning right again the same thing would happen. The problem got worse, and when we arrived in Paris i took the car to the local Ford dealer, they diagnosed the problem as the power steering pump, but after fitting a new one couldn't remap the ECU. so disabled the old pump and refitted it. Leaving me to drive home with no power steering. Car went back to Ford under warranty, and after 12weeks, the car was returned with a new power steering pump, which had faield due to the steering rack failing! Hope it's not the case for you, otherwise it may be expensive, the rack and fitting was over a grand on its own!
  8. Hi George, Thanks for the reply, so it would help if i was looking at the right area, can you please send a picture of where to locate the glow plugs? Regards, John
  9. Hi, Can someone please help me out on this one, i have taken some photo's of the parts that i am having trouble removing, any advice would be welcome..... I am having trouble removing the black plug shown in the close up in the second picture below. How do these come off, as the steel part is secured to the engine block pretty tight, and so is the black plug, and i don't want to damage any parts by using brute force. Thanks,
  10. Hi, Just purchased a set of glowplugs to replace the ones in my 56 plate 2.0TDCI, as it seems to be getting slower to fire up. Can someone please supply some photo's on the removal of the plugs. I have taken the plug off the top of the plug assembly, but cannot seem to remove the plastic connector still attached?? Thanks,
  11. Hi, My 56 plate 2.0TDCI has blown the power steering pump, it is under warranty with the Carshop, and they have today told me that the Ford dealer in Cardiff cannot get the part for 2 weeks as they are totally out of stock in the UK....does this sound a little fishy? I will be ringing a few local ford dealers to see if the story stacks up!! Anyone else know if the pumps are in such demand? Thanks Brighter
  12. Hi, I have purchased a blank spare key for my Mk3, i have read various posts about getting it cut and coded. I have a master key, would it be possible to go to a shop and get the blade cut, and then programme the new key myself? I only have 1 key for the vehicle, and a second would be a great help. Many Thanks
  13. Hi, Just taken mine out to France, and guess what...power steering failure. I have a 56 plate TDCi, and as soon as i got off the ferry, it went stiff to turn left. If i turned slightly right and then immediately left it was fine, but after a few seconds in one direction it would be stiff again. Slowly made my way down to our resort, and struggled with the steering, if you continued to fight the pressure to turn left it would 'pop' and turn freely again. Took the car into the main dealer in Soissions who diagnosed the problem as the pump, and then told me it would cost 890 euro's to repair....once i picked myself up off the floor, i told him to go ahead. (what else could i do?), and would sort the car repair out with 'the car shop supermarket' warranty department on my return. Any way... 2 days later and several phone conversations, the dealer could not complete the repair, they fitted the pump, but could not update the cars software to accept the new part. They replaced the old pump and disabled it, returning the vehicle with no charge. Leaving me to complete the return journey of 450 miles with a heavy galaxy without power steering. I have now got the pleasure of getting the car repaired again in the UK, but atleast i have piece of mind that the problem is generic, and atleast FORD UK should be able to complete the replacement. The only question now, is will Ford cover the repair as it is a generic fault with their pumps, or Car shop supermarket will have to cover, either way, i will not be shelling out any cash.... Off to email the Car shop customer services now...as they do not open on a bank holiday...TYPICAL!

  15. I've just upgraded from a 2002 (mk II), to a 2007 (mk III), and now need a tow bar for use with a caravan, can anyone tell me if the item on ebay below will do the job, i have read that some towbars if not fitted correctly will play havoc with the rear parking sensors etc. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150392074448&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Many Thanks in advance for you time and assistance....
