Hook a bit of string around the metal finger before you try to put the handle back. Then put the heel of the handle into the door and half put in the front of the handle. Then use the string to pull the metal finger towards you and to the front of the car. If you have loosened the adjustment screw, there should be enough play to get the metal finger into the hook on the handle. Once it's there, pull the string away and push the handle in all the way. A bit fiddly, but thats the way I did it on mine. After paying
