  1. Hichrispb123456,thankyou for a quick reply, looks simple enough,i will give it a go and let you know how i get on,probably attempt it next weekend.thanks again, kevin.
  2. Hi all,i was just wondering if anyone had fitted a on/off switch, wired in to where the temperature switch for the aux heater normally goes,so you can decide if its cold enough to have the aux heater running instead of a thermometer switch as i start work at 6am and only travel 7miles at lowish speeds and the car is only getting warm enough to give me some heat about 5 minutes before i get to work, even when the outside tempreture is above 10 degrees. If anyone has fitted an on/off switch, how did you connect wires to where the normal switch is fitted and where did you get the switch.i have a mk2 galaxy on a 53 plate.many thanks in advance, kevin.
  3. hi gregers, well its a year on and i must appolagise for not saying thankyou to you sooner to your reply last year.the brake switch was at fault and the aircon was the condencer leaking, the only problem i still have is the aux heater and not wanting another winter of cold journeys am investigating how to get it running again.the heater was looked at by my mechanic last year taking it apart and the fan was tested and the glow plug tested and also measured against a new one but wasnt much difference between them so didnt change.after clearing faults it seems tto start up but dosnt go for long and when it shuts off i dont hear the jet noise as i did when i first got the car and all was working as it should. i have a suspition that it may be the motor not kicking in and its overheating and tripping out or maybe the run-on pump i have now read a little about.any ideas that i could try myself or get my mechanic to look at.kev
  4. hi Tim,This sunday just gone,i fitted some edge ed206 speakers to my mk2 galaxy they are a bit tight depth wise, when fitted in the back doors but do fit perfectly as i used the same fixing screws that held in the originals. As i didn't fit any covers so you can see the orange colour of the ed206's through the grill on the door panels ,i put some black insulation tape over the fixing screw heads. To avoid possible vibration in the back i put a piece of non slip matting between the magnet and window runner, all works fine sounds alot better than originals. My head unit pumps 50 watts per channel and gets plenty loud enough without going above 30 on the dial.I would go for as higher power watts on the speakers as you can afford if you like it loud and would recommend having new clips for door cards to make sure of a tight fit when putting them back, as the amount of base you get from new speakers really vibrates the door panels and doors. If you go for more powerful speakers make sure the depth is no bigger than the ed206's.Hope this helps you decide on which ones you choose. kev
  5. I have a 2003 Galaxy (diesel 1.9 tdi). Last winter auxillary heater stopped working totally after intermittent firing up with clouds of black smoke, have had glow plug checked and fan checked by local garage and they seemed to be fine. Any other suggestions that may stop the thing working altogether would be appreciated. Also air con got warm this summer, pressure tested, recharged x 3 and still can't find the leak as it disappears over 3-4 weeks - any suggestions. Yesterday the brake light dashboard light bulb indicator stayed on, indicating I had a bulb out somewhere, after investigations to my horror I found all my brake lights were not working. Fuses checked, but no problem found - any ideas? Also glow plug light on dashboard started flashing, and a message saying "engine workshop", yet car starts and runs fine. Unfortunately now also found out this morning that the central locking no longer works, and interior lights have now also failed - any ideas or suggestions other than maybe it is time to change the car would be appreciated!
