Cant easily get it into the reverse position, but when it does go there, it is in a forward gear. Gearbox specialist has looked at it this morning, and gearbox is coming out tomorrow.

Mm Selector cables seem fine. Also, its just reverse gear that is missing, and I think if there was a cable problem, a couple of the forward gear would be affected too. Is that right?

Yeah, thanks for that. Hopefully it will be the selector cables. All forward gears work fine, just reverse that seems to have vanished.

Hi all I just 2 weeks ago bought a 2002 Galaxy TDi 6 speed manual with 98,000 miles on it. (private sale) Unfortunately today it has decided it will not select reverse anymore. It is as if it does not have a reverse gear all of a sudden! Any help or suggestions on what the problem could be would be much appreciated. Regards (and thanks in advance) Andy
