  1. I had this same problem on my MK1 too. Does your switch have a nice positive click when you press it or is it a bit non descript?. My switch was worn and the spring contacts inside had come off their mounting points. As I am a bit tight I just soldered the spring contacts back in place rather than buy a new switch! It is quite easy to open the switch once you have it in your hand, just a small screwdriver to prise open the plastic lugs. :D Hope you can sort it cheaply!!
  2. Is there a way I can interrogate the ford system then? ;)
  3. I may sound a bit thick  , but does Vag Com work on Non VW engine models. I have a 2.0 litre which I thought would be Ford engine management system, I would love to find out if my problem with lumply idling is just a bad connection of a sensor of some kind..... Cheers
  4. Does anyone here know if the idler pulley on the 2.0 with aircon can be fitted to the automatic tensioner assembly, as it is only the bearing that is gone, and I dont feel like wasting
  5. I was confused by this but was informed on here that its the secondary air pump which gets the cat up to temp quicker by feeding extra oxygen during first part of running.
  6. 1. Chris 2.Nottingham 3.Galaxy 2.0 GLX 1997 4.6 months 5.Definitely 6.
  7. I didn't know it but this is where I have always got most of my parts from, we know it as Sutton Autospares and are close enough visit in person saving on delivery charges! And they give you a trade discount for being cheeky.
  8. Got my discs and pads also lockheed for
  9. I have always thought of my 2.0 galaxy as being a big slow bugger that drinks fuel, but since reading the posts by attila, I think I may have been putting up with a fault for 6 months. Can I assume that if I unplug the wiring connector from my MAF whilst then engine is running (idling) that I will see a change in RPM's or is it not visible until actually driving, and putting the engine on load at different rev ranges? As I did this at the weekend and the revs did not even notice that it had gone. Also is there a way I can actively test the MAF with a Scope/Multimeter as I have access to some test gear as I am an electronics engineer. Currently the Galaxy is in for a cam chain problem, i.e the guides have broken off and been eaten. Cant wait for the bill for that one. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi, I have a similiar MPG and lack of power and also always thought it was just the way it is. But when I was checking the oil at the weekend i decided to pull the MAF lead off and see what happens. Now am I right in thinking that the idle revs would change when the MAF is unplugged while the engine is running, as mine didnt do anything, it seemed to completely ignore repeated plugging on and off of the connector. . I cant do anymore diagnostics just yet as Gal has unfortunately gone to ford for cam chain noise solution, I think its the guide/tensioner. Any idea what this is likely to cost? And where can I get a cheap MAF solution?
  11. This happened on my mondeo, when a hole appeared in my hose from inlet manifold to brake servo. Brakes seem like they have gone but are just unfeasibly hard to press. A new hose should be about
  12. Thanks for all the info, I will get a look at the canister as soon as I can, and at least I know I am not alone in having a 'thudding' fuel tank. Cheers :)
  13. hmmm I did'nt see the innuendo as I was writing this apologies for my confusing double entendres oooeeer! ^_^
