  1. Hi thanks for your response I haven't pulled any plugs (wouldn't know where to start...lol) with regard to disconnecting the battery, this also has not taken place. I did notice the needle issue during a 200+ mile journey, l looked at the speedo and thought christ, l'm doing 90mph but when l slowed down the needle went down to beind the pin. Do you think disconnecting the battery may solve it? Many thanks
  2. Not sure if l have enquired about this before. The needle has for some reason found itself the other side of the pin. The speedo no longer works in the usual way however l have noticed when l reach a speed of approx. 70mph it jumps anti-clockwise to 90mph. Is this a common issue and easily fixed Many thanks
  3. Just what is happening with regard to insurance. I stupidly agreed for my monthly installments to be taken direct from my debit card from my insurer over the last 12 months, which to be honest has not caused a problem at all, however it transpires that paying in this way means you have no control at all, i.e. you cannot stop a payment if the need arose. So upon receipt of my renewal quote this week l spoke to them requesting direct debit (DD) payments and after some discussion they advised me that they really only take card payments, however should l choose DD there would be a 20% charge on the yearly premium AND an extra 10% on each monthly payment. As a result l am looking really hard at other insurers, which l must add are only charging approx. 11% on the yearly premium. Also l find that all the hype regarding the comparrison insurance sites are over rated, yes l could save
  4. Wonder if anyone has encountered this. Was driving along on the motorway and noticed my speedometer (needle) appearing to be stuck at 90mph although l was not doing that speed. Stopped for fuel at the services needle went to zero however when starting the car up l noticed that the speedometer actually went anti-clockwise straight to 90 and didn't move no matter how fast or slow l went. You help and advice if very much welcome Thankyou
  5. Thankyou my friend!!! You are a true legend. Will you marry me?? Oh l say, is this going to be the 1st forum Wedding.......lol
  6. Thanks all for your suggestions. Yes the Pollen Filter was changed, no belts though? I don't feel the wiper washer is to blame as this hasn't been used and the smell is there only when the engine is started. The smell is not noticable when starting the car with head under the bonnet (thats sounds wrong doesn't it...lol) so l feel as suggested it may well be the pollen filter, only hope it clears soon. Thanks again Essex
  7. Good evening everyone. I wonder if anyone has an idea where the smell could be coming from I have a 1997 Galaxy TDI which was serviced yesterday by my Brother-in-Law, since the service when the car is started the smell l can only describe as cats wee or the smell you get when letting air out of the tyres comes from the vents. The AC is not on and the smell lasts approx. 4 minutes, it is a really strong smell. Thanks for reading Essex
