  1. Quick update. Got the cruise control to work if I pushed the clutch pedal up, to take up the free play, which is only about 3mm. Have sourced a rubber pad to stick on the clutch mechanism and now cruise works! Thanks for the help. Dave
  2. Thanks big_kev, that's given me something to work on - here are my observations.... Changing the cruise controls certainly alters the readouts, and depressing the brake also changes the readouts along the lines above. I get the 1.0 readout for whether cruise is on. The interesting observation is that the clutch pedal is showing as depressed all the time, when it clearly was not. By pushing the pedal up towards me taking into account the free play in the mechanism, I got it to show it was not depressed. Could this be the cause of my problem? Presumably there's a switch or sensor getting wrong readings, so I'll do another forum search and see what other folk have said. Cheers Dave
  3. faq here items 45, 68 for wiper linkage check you brake lights work for cruise control :) Thanks for the welcomes peeps :) Been enjoying rummaging through all the posts relevant to my issues. It's Sunday and the sun is shining so it's time to give the car some tlc - will report back... Dave
  4. Hi folks Newbie and imposter (Alhambra) alert all in one :P Have a '99 Hammer 110 TDI, with cruise fitted, but totally non-functional. Can't hear any clicks or any changes when activated at any speed. I do have a licensed version of VAG-COM (v.409.1) but can't find any mention of cruise under any of the sections. Is there an idiot's guide to how to check for cruise control errors using this software? Will be rooting around for help as there's plenty of jobs to do, including the dreaded dead wipers experience... Cheers Dave
