Further investigation of glo plug light/brake light problem indicates that the wiring loom to the tailgate can break, also check the rear compartment where the car jack is usually kept, there is some wiring and a connector there which can get damaged. Also, the grommet which carries the brake/cruise switch cables through the front bulkhead can wear, causing the cables to short (not very common I'd have thought)

Interestingly I had exactly the same problem on a Mk2 Galaxy, flashing glo plug light and then no brake lights, so if you found the fix I'd be very interested to know what it was that caused it. Faulty brake light swiches shou;dn't cause the glo plug light to flash, so its unlikely to be that anyway

Rear Washer

Be very careful if its weak, the pipe which carries the water may have a leak. Check under front passenger seat well to see if its wet. If it is, fix the joint immediately or risk damaging the parking sensor module located under passenger seat. Common problem! The joint blows apart or partially comes apart. Relatively easy to fix, remove plastic trim from side of front footwell to expose pipe, repair and reassemble -
I believe the ABS light is definitely an MOT failure, but you can double check on google just by asking "is the abs light an mot fail" and see what comes back at ya. !

No Speedo And Dancing Fuel Gauge
markleaver replied to tona955's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
SAme problem as my Ford 1.9TDi Ghia, so far no complete solution. Ford couldn't find any fault in memory, but it blows Fuse #3 (5AMP). They took instrument cluster out, cleaned it and replaced it. Everything worked OK for 3 days then it blew again tonight (just when its gone dark and I'm off to airport early in morning - typical, can't even see if anything is amiss. we are both chasing the same problem, so if anyone has fixed a similar problem let us know where that problem is likely to be (like a cable chafing as it passes over/through a bulkhead) or a bad connect somewhere. This is a nightmare scenario, as otherwise after 190K+ the car has been ultra-reliable, c'mon guys, someone somewhere must know something -
I'm having same problem, Fuse#3 (5AMP) just went for no reason, taking out Climate Control, indicators, speedo, trip & odometer and all related trip computer, fuel guage has become unstable, braking and accelerating cause massive changes in fuel levels. Replaceing fuse just kept blowing, so went into Ford to get diagnostics - no fault found - but the mechanic took instrument panel out, cleaned contacts and replaced and it worked OK for 3 days, then blown again. This could take some finding, and it is going in again to Ford when their autoelectrician gets back from holiday. I think the wiring loom is chafing on something like a bulkhead, or maybe a wire has got pinched by previous greas monkey when fitting another part. Car has done 190K+ and so far has been a great performer (2005 1.9TDi Ghia) but I fear this may take some finding, watch this space as this could be interesting

Galaxy Clutch Pedal Lazy Return
markleaver replied to markleaver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
No luck yet, but as problem began after new clutch and release mech replaced I'm going for the slave cylinder assembly, like its binding on something. I'm going to consult a real clutch expert and let him take a look. Either way its gonna cost me, but will keep posted -
Galaxy Clutch Pedal Lazy Return
markleaver replied to markleaver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Can you describe briefly how to remove the pedal assembly? I assume the brake and clutch pedals are on the same spindle, but how is that spindle anchored onto the chassis/bulkhead? I can't figure that out from what I can see, but maybe I need to remove the carpet and surrounding plastic trim first??? -
I have an 05 Galaxy Tdi Ghia. Had a new clutch fitted around 80K, new flywheel around 130K. At some random point in time the clutch pedal, when dipped, sometimes does not return fully up, and I need to lift it with my foot, then it works fine. I've had the sytem bled to no avail, sometimes it works, but around 1 in 10 clutch presses it doesn't return. Been to Ford garage and they were helpful showed my an exploded view of pedals on shaft. There seems to be a coiled return spring on the clutch pedal within the diagram, which may be the probem (disengaged or broken spring?), but looking in the footwell it seems like an absolute nightmare trying to remove the complete assembly, and its tight down there. Has anyone found the need to remove the complete eadl assembly, and if so, how easy/difficult it it. I was thinking of hiring a midget to carry out the work. Anyone who's had cruise control problems will know how tight it is down there! Any offers for advice would be appreciated, as I'm frustrated with the problem now

Cruise Control Tdi 2005 Not Working
markleaver replied to markleaver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks guys, routed around and (I think) checked both switched (not a lot of room under there!!). Still no CC, but was wondering whether I should remove the panel to get better access to the switches? I may need to check the actual CC rocker switch next. Also, would the cable/VAG.COM check the pedal switches for me? remember that you are driving a W Sharan with a Ford badge on it ( ditto for Seat Alhambra). example ebay lead below....first one that came up on search there are loads of similar. I just had first replacement pulley fitted after around 110K so you probably had a faulty one -
Cruise Control Tdi 2005 Not Working
markleaver replied to markleaver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Being a complete novice at this, I took a look on ebay and the choice is a little bewildering, plus I had problems tracking down a lead suitable for my '05 Galaxy. Apart from that I don't know where the socket is for the lead. The diagnostic sounds very useful indeed, so which lead do I need, they all sate various models of VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat but not Ford, and there are a number of differnet leads -
Good old Cruise Control. As TDi's appear to be different, I'd like to ask others of similar experiences One day it worked, the next it didn't. Light comes on on dash, but switch on end of stalk makes no difference. Someone on here said the rocker switch on the end of the stalk is a common problem. I took my lovely Galaxy into a Ford dealer in Harrogate, mentioned that it could be the rocker switch, and after a couple of hours they said they would need a whole day to investigate (anything from faulty wiring to new ECU - blank cheque style). So bottom line is - does the rocker fail, if so how would I test this, and can it be "fixed" or does it require a new part, and if so, is this the whole satlk assembly?
