  1. OK so I've now fitted the resistor pack and fan is now working on all speeds, but air con still not working. Put fan on IV speed with air con selected and looked in the front wheel well to observe compressor pulley. Doesn't look as if the clutch is kicking in. I assume without getting in there to look closer that the centre of the pulley would begin to turn if the clutch kicks in?
  2. Called round my local dealers and seems that they are about
  3. Fraud Galaxy 2.3 Zetec 2002 I've been searching through the various topics on the blower/air con non-function in position I and II but OK on III and IV (but air con turns off) and I'm pretty sure its down to the resistor pack (relevant fuses checked etc). Is there a check you can specifically make on the pack itself to make sure it is the pack that has gone? Is it repairable at all? If not any idea how much one of these would be from the main stealer?
  4. I've been looking through the topics on the airbag and clock spring, but no mention is made of what the problem is with them and how to decide if the spring is at fault. I've removed the clock spring unit from the car, and I am using a DMM to check continuity through the leads etc (airbag is removed of course). Basically I get a short circuit from both of the contacts on the column side connector to one of the pins of the yellow airbag connector. I'm guessing that this is the fault, or is this supposed to be? The other pin of the airbag connector is open circuit. I don't want to shell out for a new clock spring only to find the problem is elsewhere on the car, so I'd appreciate if anyone who has changed this out already can help me out? The car is going for sale soon so I need to get the dashboard light to go out. Oh yeah - its a '97 Galaxy Aspen 2.0 petrol.
  5. Folks - hope someone can help I have an '02 2.3 Zetec I recently bought and its going fine. Only problem is that the alarm goes off through the night for no apparent reason. When I use the remote to lock the car I don't get the confirmation flash of the indicators, but they do flash twice when the car is unlocked with the remote. Could this be anything to do with it? I've read through the manual supplied but nothing in there is helping. I have checked for windows left open etc but all is fine.
  6. Thanks chaps - I guessed the tray had been "overlooked" at a service Is there any place on this site to advertise Gals for sale?
  7. I'm considering buying a 2002 2.3 Zetec from a colleague and am wondering if that engine has the cam chain or cambelt. Also, I noticed there was no lower engine cover fitted - is this common or has some spotty kid in the garage forgotten to refit it after a service? I have a '97 Aspen 7-seater at the moment which hasn't missed a beat in 8 years so I'm not worried either way just interested
  8. I take it then there will be a standard plug style for this? Do I have to pull off the plastic cover as if I were changing a lightbulb?
  9. Does anyone know if there is a wired plug so that I could fit a lightboard over a couple of bikes on a rack? I am concerned that the bikes will obscure the lights etc and I'll get pulled on me hols. The car has no towbar fitted, and I dont fancy splicing into the main feed at the rears.
  10. Oh well - never mind! It probably was the wrong pattern wnyway - mine are the very smooth ones with ovals at the outer rim and Ford logo in centre. I'm going to go round the braker here to see if I can get an spare or at least a set of matching 15" trims - that bare wheel is terrible to look at.
  11. Does anyone know if the wheel trims from a mondeo etc will fit a 98 Galaxy? I've one trim that has lost all the lugs and a new one costs an arm and a leg (and it'll stick out like a sore thumb!!). I guessed there will be loads of wheel trims to suit Mondeo in local breakers, but very little Galaxy ones.
  12. Talc is a wonderful lubricant for toothed and multi ribbed belts. I've been using Johnson's talc (had a few huge bottles left over from when sprogs were still in nappies) for about 4 years on my Aspen alternator belt. used on all sorts of things over the years - washing machines respond especially well, but don't over do it  it could get messy.
