  1. Dear all, Does anyone have any tips in taking apart the switch unit from a galaxy mk 3 in the driver's door? Hubby says it has power going to it and it has started and stopped working once since it stopped working, so seems like it might be a bad contact. It seems at least worth a try to take it apart. All the wires going to the door seem fine, but driver's side is not locking (front & back), windows not working and mirrors not going in. Thanks in advance. Emma
  2. I doubt anyone will ever need to refer to this post to solve a similar problem, but this little beauty was to blame http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn203/EmmaL179/Stone.jpg between the subframe and the steering rack!
  3. Thanks. No particular rain at that moment. I've spoken to the garage and they suspect a coil, so will update when I know :) Thanks for the suggestion.
  4. Hi all, I have a 1.9 tdi diesel '53' galaxy that's done 150,000. A couple of months ago something strange happened with the steering. I was turning hard right and it felt like there was an obstruction and wouldn't go any further, I forced the steering wheel and it seemed to free up and turn again. It happened a couple more times that day, but by the time I got home and got hubby to look at it, the problem had vanished. Well the same thing happened again today. I was turning hard right and it seemed to stop and have something in the way again. I persisted and it sort of clicks and gives way and carries on fine (ish). It doesn't happen every time but when it does, the steering wheel is almost immovable till it "gives". We've spent so much money on this beast of a car and if it is something simple we can do, that would be preferable. At the moment I'm scared to drive it. Don't these things always happen on the busiest weeks?! I've searched the forums but couldn't find someone with the same thing, but maybe I'm searching the wrong thing. Thanks in advance. Emma
  5. Thanks for this conversation. Most helpful in the headlight removal. Now if someone can just solve the problem of corroded screws!! Full set of lights again :) Thanks
  6. Thanks for the help. We got the code from www.ukbookshelf.co.uk in the end who work on donations. Was beginning to think I was going to have to beg Ford then! Emma
  7. The nav radio was a factory option and did not come with cd changer as standard, i bought one for mine and found i needed a new cable as the one in the loom did not suit either the radio or changer. Thanks. We got the CD changer sorted in the end by buying a VW one but the code has definitely been torn out of the book. We didn't need the code till it went to the garage to get a new radiator this week! Emma
  8. Sorry, code was slightly wrong BP1040 3 342 4953 7 612 001 040
  9. We have a non standard radio in our Galaxy made by Blaupunkt (MFD radio-navigation system). The previous owners usefully sold the CD changer and took the paperwork out containing the code. We've just had a job done on the car and now need the code. The two codes we were suggested previously have not worked (1915 and 1696). Can anyone find out the correct code? We have several numbers on it so hope one of them is the right one! 10. I have a question about codes but thought I'd share some information as we have had great trouble solving the problem and couldn't find the answer on here. I apologise if it has been covered before. We recently bought a Galaxy Ghia with a Blaupunkt Radio Navigation System. After a bit of research we discovered it is an MFD and can be removed using Audi removal tools bought on the auction site. It was missing a CD changer though. There is no point searching for a Ford CD changer as the plug is different. We have however struck lucky by searching for an VW CD changer as they were more standard in their cars. These again can be purchased on the auction site. Check the picture to make sure the plugs are the same. Now all we need is the code for the radio. We haven't unplugged it fortunately, but managed to get the numbers on the side. If anyone can help, we would be most grateful. There are several numbers. Not sure which is the right one On a Ford sticker: IM21 18K931AA 7M5 035 191A Other stickers on it: 8618 842 087 8618 842 750 8618 842 980 2071184 014BP10403342953 BP1040_3_3424953_7_612_001_040 Emma :)
  11. Thanks for all the replies. Some useful information here. Emma
  12. Hi Emma, Welcome to the mad house, I've got a 2005 1.9 tdi Ghia. So anything you want too know, just ask. All the seats in the middle row and the back row all slide and tilt. You can remove the back two for holiday luggage or remove all five and the space is huge. On my Ghia model the two front seats swivel right around, so you can fold the middle seats down like a table, it's great when you go to race meetings. If you go looking for a Galaxy, try to get one with the highest spec's, mine has the swivel heated seats, climate control,sat/nav and chrome pack. They are out there, it just takes a bit of looking. Make sure you get it inspected by somebody like the AA, because like all modern cars they have their favourite problems. Make sure the air/con and electrics all work and the wipers move at all speeds, plus check under the passengers carpet for damp, some are prone to leaks and sometimes the rear screenwasher pipe disconnects, it run down that side. Thanks for your comprehensive answer! Will be looking out for a bargain then :angry2: Emma
  13. Hi all, I am new to this forum. We are considering buying a Galaxy shortly 05 or 06 diesel 1.9. We were just wondering about the seats and what different models can do. Specifically whether the two back rows can slide forward and back or not and which models have swivel seats. Thanks in advance. Emma
