Hi everyone, i was driving my galaxy mk1 today & during driving the car the gear stick went all floppy and car is stuck in 5th gear. I can drive the car fine in 5th gear & it pulls as normal, I've looked at the top of the gearbox it looks normal but i can grab hold of the linkage part and it moves freely and movers the gear stick in the car ???? Please can anyone suggest anything pleaswe ????? cheers kev

My spare wheel carrier doesn't look like the one above, mine has 4 rivets & a 19mm bolt through the centre Mine is like the attachment wheel.bmp

you say bothg are the same but mine has a big 19mm bolt through the centre it looks nothing like the one explianed here - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/13813-spare-wheel-carrier-repairs/page__p__112596 I've taken out the four rivets but the bolt is the only thing holding the 2 halfs together..... kev

Hi please has anyone got a few pics on how to take apart the spare wheel carrier on a MK1 Galaxy, Story goes i was driving up the motorway & had a puncture i managed to get the spare off the wheel carrier but i thought i'd change the wheel & put the puinctured one back on after i left the motorway......I've just got home to put the now repaired wheel back in its place but the cable on the wheel carrier came down about 10 inches & now is stuck - no going up or down :blink: So Please has anyone know how to open up the carrier or have pics on how to do it, i saw that someone has done it to a MK2 regards kevla

Hi guys, slight problem with my tailgate lock...son opened it today with the wrong key so i went out with the correct key and the lock just went round & round, i've managed to get the lock out and it looks ok but not to sure. the spring came out and not sure how the lock goes back together... i may need to change the barrel as there is a tiny piece of metal on the side that looks broke. PLEASE has anyone got a break down picture of the tailgate lock or guide me to where there is one.... Many thanks in advance Kev

Hi guys is it possible to put the Picnic Trays into the front seats of a galaxy that doesn't have them as standard, i have an S reg 2.0 Aspen & mine don't have them but would like to add them for my two children..... Is it Possible ?? How much roughly would it cost to do ?? I've looked on Ebay & can't seam to find any, so i guess its a Ford main thing !!! Advise Please Guys Cheers Kevin,,,,

Hi guys had a little search for my problem & i think i may have the answer but would like your thoughts just in case. I've just come home & noticed on the way home that my temp gauge needle wasn't moving but every now & then it moves to just under half way then shoot back to the beginning of the white ??? I have plenty of hot air coming from the heaters. So my thoughts is ...Could it be the Thermostat ?? if so how easy is it to replace & general location.. If I'm wrong please can anyone point me in the right direction to my fault..... Many thanks in advance... Kev

Thanks guys for all your help i had a look at the car today & found out that the belt tensioner has gone too, bought the belt just short of

Auxilary belt as its called is easy to change, taking the pressure off the tensioner is the only tricky bit - however its a well known fault with galaxy diesels that the belt gets wet allowing it to slip so the undertray is a must - I've not heard of many issues with the petrol version though but I would check the front grills are correctly fitted as a start. Hi guys i just drove home & half way home my battery light came on & the steering went really heavy, I managed to get home and just had a quick look & i believe the timing has come off but as its absolutly peeing down outside I'll have a good look tomorrow. Question: Anybody know how easy it is to remove & replace the belt or can point me in the right direction please... Vehicle in question is a Galaxy Mk1 S reg 2ltr.. cheers in advance Kevin

Hi everyone, yes i know this has been covered a few times but I've just bought my first Galaxy on a S reg 2.0ltr Silver (believe its mica stone) and it doesn't come with the rear windows tinted or the roof rails which i required. I have sorted the roof rails thanks to a nice chap on eBay, But I'd like the widows tinted because of the young children we have and was wondering how hard is it ??
