  1. My other car is a company Mondeo. This gets a variety of premium tyres fitted to it. I have to say some of the so called premium tyres are not good and grip is poor. Pirelli and Bridgestone were ok . Over time I have selected economy and mid range tyres for my galaxy and had good experiences. One reason I diodn't carry on with the Dunlop tyres that were fitted when it was new is that they felt as though they were square as soon as you turned the steering wheel and I wasn't impressed with the overall grip. The moral of this is look at the reviews and choose carefully and wisely - selecting a tyre because it is premium doesn't mean a good tyre. Use the online tyre sellers - they offer great value . You can get better than the well known overpriced tyre retailers . The fitters offered by the online bunch can actually fit the tyres cleanly without plastering tyre grease everywhere
  2. Had similar problem - window not working. On door card removal process note - they are 10mm bolts not screws - BE careful not to drop them - fortunately I dropped one when removing so easy to retrieve. One of the plastic door runners had broken and the glass detached from the clamps. Managed to fix with the mechanism in place . I lowered the mechanism (by reconnecting the switches) til it was in view of the holes. Then unclipped the runner from the black metal mechanism. unclipped the cable . Attached the non sprung cable first then the sprung. Undid the Torq screw on the clamps slid the glass down into the clamps and tightened. Hey presto all worked. Then put it all back together. just as it started raining - so didn't get too wet
  3. The plastic handlse can be easily sourced at Ford - not too expensive either. They do have a small metal clip on the end of the metal lever . This retains the plastic part. Hence the reason they were loose - the clip had probably been lost. You have to enaure you get the correct colour - Ford may have to use your chassis number to match to the original car colour options. There are many shades of grey ! I replaced mine but they are easily broken again !
  4. Hmm - not the flexi hose. Now suggesting the caliper is at fault
  5. From memory you have to resync the key I think this is my holding it in the door locked position and pressing the lock button.
  6. brake warning - check your brake pads.
  7. ok Garage checked it . Piston moving freely. Now think it is a collapsed flexible brake hose - getting this done on Monday.
  8. The front passegner wheel seems to be getting warm to the touch (driver side is cold) It did smoke at start of week and get very hot. Now just warm and seems to be brake burning smell. Garage (Nationwide) say brakes are ok not sticking any ideas ?
  9. I always mount mine further back for streamlining - handles better too as it doesn't try to take off!
  10. I seem to have an issue with the display on my car. When it is hot the top part of the display (half of the top row of figures) disappears . Has anyone experienced this / knows a fix ? I'm presuming it is due to the heat .
  11. The yellow paint was a requirement a long while ago but isn't now. Just use the Eurolites - they have reasonable diagrams on how to fit.
  12. Use the sliding door in the wheel arch. You either have to turn the wheel to get access or to make it easier take the wheel off. I had to get a spanner on the bulb holder to make it turn. Ford obviously design these to be removed by strongmen midgets Least its better than my 57 mondeo - I had to remove the whole headlight to change the bulb! Beginning to think perhaps its better to pay Halfords monkeys to change them - worth a laugh anyway
  13. Many thanks for that wipers stopped working groaned and thought Oh no wiper motor gone! Tried Fuse 24 that was ok. It was the Fuse no 33. - labelled as fan ! Mine was built 2000 registered 2003
  14. Just thought I relay my experiences on Holiday in France. (03 Ford Galaxy TDI Auto) Drove down running plenty off the electrics and stopped overnight. In the morning tried to start the car struggled to turn over . Found friendly Englishman staying in same hotel and jumpstarted car. Then drove for two hours with minimum electrics . Stopped at services. Tried to start Battery even worse !. Jump started again and went to destination. Found Seat Garage in Bergerac (Acquitaine Autos) - very helpful and courteous The battery light was green which they said was ok. Got them to test battery - battery was duff. Replaced battery and one week and a bit later all still ok fingers crossed Earlier in year had issue with starting but this was after son had been running radio , aircon etc full blast for an hour off the battery . Put it down to running it flat as it was ok after running for a bit. The recovery man said the battery was duff - now wished I listened to him !
  15. My aircon stopped working so I regassed as it was empty still not working though. Just ran vag com and it reported intermittent pressure switch fault > Anyone any ideas on cost to fix - is this easy to replace yourself ? does it meen gas will escape ? Any help appreciated
  16. If its the break wear indicator light - coupled with message on dash then the wire is probably broken. The brake pads have a wire embedded to determine when they are worn. The connections to this can break and cause the light to be on incorrectly. (it did on mine!) Any other indicator and it'sneeds checking immediately as its potentially unsafe as above
  17. I seem to have aircon problem on my 2003 Galaxy with CC The unit started falsing recently when turning ignition on . As it hadn't been regassed - had it regassed at Ford Rapidfit. Now stopped flashing and they advised I had no gas before refill. Problem is the aircon isn't working - any ideas - is it an error code problem and if so how much will that cost to fix ?
