  1. Hi all I'm desperate for some help here, my 1997 P reg 2 LITRE GALAXY GHIA has just had it's ignition module replaced as it wouldn't start because of lack of spark. Upon testing there was 12 volts going in and between 3 and 9 coming out and I was reliably informed that it was the ignition module. The module was replaced and the car started straight away and ran perfectly for 1 day starting and stopping 5 times in this period. The next day it would not start and upon checking the new module, it was found to e exactly the same as the one it replaced 12 in 4 out and therefore again there was no spark,. Does anyone have the faintest idea as to what may be causing this to happen. The ignition coils are in good working order so they have been ruled out. I'm desperate to get this sorted as soon as possible so help is urgently required. many, many thanks Danny.
  2. Hi all, I have a 1997 2 litre galaxy ghia currently sidelined. It seems the problem is with the ignition amplifier and map sensor. Now I have managed to get these parts priced up but the problem is that the ignition amplifier is a ford fiesta part! I Have had the car for 7 years and it has run great up till now with this part! I have priced up the part at
  3. Hi, just wondering if any of you may have used The ECU doctor service to rebuild engine control modules for a galaxy. Having read through the website it seems much more plausable to utilise the ecm you have rather than get an exchanged one that will probably need to be reprogrammed at greater expense? If any one has used this business please offer back reviews, thanks
  4. THANKS WILLIE, I AM NOT LOOKING AT GETTING IT DONE AT A DEALERS AS I KNOW THEY TAKE THE 'P', I HAVE FOUND A FEW PLACES THAT DO REPROGRAMMED ECM's ETC RELATIVELY CHEAPLY (UNDER
  5. Most likely fuel pump relay (aka Relay 30) K4. It may click, but a dry joint internally prevents 12 volts getting to your fuel pump. Known fault, unlike the ECU which is normally very reliable. The whistling may be do to arcing/high resistance in the relay Thanks for that, but just to add to that if it was the fuel pump relay would everything that I mentioned happen or is there some question marks over anything?
  6. Hi all, I was hoping someone could help me with a part number verification: I am looking for the part number for the Engine Control Module for a 'P' reg 1997 Ford Galaxy 2.0 Ghia thanks dan dan the desperate man
  7. Hi all, first post, so I hope someone an give me a helping hand, I wanted to start a new topic but I an unable to as a new forum member so please forgive me if this is a little off topic. My 1997 MK1 2.0 GALAXY Ghia is an old warhorse but is mechanically sound, I have been having a lot of problems with the ecu's of late (yes I know, common issues!) and have replaced both the wiper motor/ecu and the central locking ecu relatively cheaply from ebay. It now seems I have a non functioning ECM! (I think?) The symptoms: The car just stopped whilst driving along as if the car had run out of petrol. Upon inspection the fuel pump was not working (yes I did check to see if there was any fuel in it first!), the pump, all fuses and relays checked and all were found to be working fine. The first clue! A mechanic managed to bypass the ecm and get the fuel pump started but their diagnostics machine could not go deep enough to find out if it was an ecm problem or not. Attempted roll starting the vehicle succesfully and the car run but with limited power all warning lights extinguished when it was running, when placed in neutral the engine cut out. Is this a sign of non working ECM? When at a standstill and the ignition is turned on you can hear the fuel pump working and engine turning over but also a high pitched whistling sound as if a pipe is disconnected, does anyone know what this is? If anyone could help me out on these questions I would be grateful, also if anyone know of anyway to get this old warhorse running until I can sort out an ECM I would be grateful again! dan dan the troubled man
