  1. Hi Can anyone advise what can be done to get help from Fords for a 2012 galaxy Titanium X 2 ltr tdci with an automatic gearbox that has had to have a new replacement after only 50,000 miles and then the new gearbox fails after 34,000 miles. Would it be fair to say that failing after 34,000 miles the gearbox supplied was not fit for service? I cover below average mileage and have had the vehicle serviced regularly on a Ford service plan by a local Ford dealer since owning the vehicle. Do any members have any advice on this matter?
  2. Hi All I am very concerned about the Galaxy Powershift Gearbox since reading all the problems that owners have had with this gearbox since its introduction. It does not seem to last very long before developing serious faults compared to the old type automatic boxes and the faults are usually very expensive to repair. The faults are so common that customers with these gearboxes in Australia are taking Ford to court on the grounds that these gearboxes are not fit for purpose. I have a 2012 2.0 tdci Titanium X which has a powershift box, it has covered only 53000 miles in the 4 years I have owned it and recently developed a fault. It would only change up into 3rd gear but would not go any further. I called Ford Assist and managed to get it back to my dealer where it had been serviced regularly and have a service plan to enable me to spread the cost of servicing. They checked it out and said that the valve body needed replacing at a cost of £1825. The gearbox had its oil and filter change at the 32000 mile service at a cost of £218 so it has had all the service that Ford recommend although I thought the price of this oil change rather excessive considering the charge for a similar oil change on a conventional automatic box. Before going ahead with the repair I spoke with a local Automatic Gearbox Specialist to see if the charge for this valve body was normal he said it was usual as these boxes are constantly going wrong, I asked him if any manufacturer made a good automatic and he said none of the German cars are any better they all use the same type of gearbox and they all know about the problems, he went on to name a few manufacturers, Mercedes,BMW, Audi, VW, Volvo. I asked what manufacturers he would recommend he said try the Japanese. All in all I wonder if any other Galaxy owners with this gearbox have had similar problems, as it does not seem to me that this gearbox is fit for purpose, having read all the problems other owners have had with this box. I would like to add that I am 67 and not a boy racer so my vehicle is driven well not thrashed. Regards
  3. Hi Just got a 2012 2.0 diesel powershift and have found the same problem. Would be pleased to know if an updated software would solve the problem. Regards Bob
  4. Hi It is listed in the accessoies book but no pictureif you look at the list that shows the dog guard at the bottom of the list you will see tonneau cover. It costs £200. I have just listed a grey one on ebay from a 2008 ghia, never used. Regards Bob
  5. Hi I use an early Galaxy jack on mine and have changed wheels several times with no problems. The handbook shows small semicircular marks on the sill at the front and back and I place the jack over the sill with these in the centre of the part that locates over the sill. The spare I fix upright to the back of the rear seat using a luggage strap through the rear anchorage point and up and around the head restraint bars at the top of the seat having threaded it through the wheel in a couple of strategic places that enable the wheel to be pulled tight to the back of the seat. I have had no problems with this method so far. Hope this helps owners since Ford do not seem to want to!
