Question Regarding Aircon Re-gas
tpurch replied to tpurch's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
OK, not sure where to go from here then... Two different guys at kwik-fit have told me that its fine and I don't need the oil. How do I prove I do.....? Failing that: Is there a way to check the oil in the system without another re-gas? Can I add additional oil myself ? -
Question Regarding Aircon Re-gas
tpurch replied to tpurch's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
OK, I have spoke to the aircon expert and he says its fine. There Aircon system charges both gas and oil to the recommended levels, but optionally you can add additional oil with UV dye. The read-out shows the additional oil/dye being added not the total oil added. -
Question Regarding Aircon Re-gas
tpurch replied to tpurch's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for your replies....I called Kwikfit back and the person I spoke to said that its fine....I was told that the oil contains a dye and is used to find leaks. He said the oil isn't required to make the system work, however the guy did say he wasn't the aircon expert and that I should wait until today and call again because the aircon expert was on shift.....I will let you all know what is said.... -
I purchased the Galaxy in Feb 09 and aircon wasn't working (I assumed that it had a leak) but decided to take it to kwik-fit today to have a re-gas and see what happens. The Aircon is now working but I was told its probably got a slow leak cos the re-charge unit said that the aircon was empty(but it didn't detect any leaks and so it has re-charged it) and that it may only last 4-6months. so far so good but... I was just about to file the receipt and noticed something..... The Cool-Tech report says: RECOVERED 00.000Kg RECOVERED OIL 0000 ml NO LEAK DETECTED CHARGED 00.700 kg OIL CHARGED 0000 ml Should I be concerned about the fact that OIL CHARGED is 0000ml? I know nothing about aircon so I was wondering if the oil should have been charged or if it means that it didn't remove any from the car so it didn't need to add any? If it does need to be charged with oil do you know how much it requires? Do I need to take the galaxy back to kwik-fit and get them to charge the air-con oil as well?

Hi, I wonder if you could help with this? I have a Galaxy 2002(51) 2.3 ZTEC and have just had a problem where the rear washer pipe in passenger foot-well disconnected. Today my wife told me that the parking sensors started making funny noises when the wife was driving, so I went to investigate. I pushed the Parking sensor button and the engine cut-out and the engine fault light switched on. I restarted the engine and the engine fault light remained on....had a look in the foot-well and the cables that run back to the sensors were soaked. I have dried them out now but the parking sensor button doesn't appear to work now, so I checked the fuses (they seem OK). I did check if the module under the passenger seat was wet and it didn't appear to be (but I guess its possible that it did get wet and has since dried out) One of the fuses I removed seems to have cleared the engine fault light but parking sensors are still not operating. Is it possible that the Parking Sensor Module has been Disabled by ECU and if so, how to I re-enable?

many thanks!

does anyone know what the change intervals are for cambelt on 2003 focus 1.6 ZTEC?

I maybe way off base here......... It could be a MAF problem. This would explain the poor performance and may also account for the noise as the engine maybe labouring under low revs. The reason I say MAF is because I was investigating a problem on a MK1 Sharan and accidently unplugged the MAF...When I started it up it sounded like a "tractor" and engine ran like a dog..... Suggest you remove MAF and see if the engine runs better.

I had a similar problem with a MK1 Sharan, it turned out to be a bad connection to the MAF sensor. After unplugging it and plugging in back in a couple of times engine ran like a dream.....there were no reports of a fault with VAG

A woman writes into a newsaper problem page........ Dear Walter, I hope you can help me here? The other day, I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual..... I hadn't driven more than a mile down the road when the engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help, When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes!!! He was in our bedroom with the neighbor's daughter. I am 32, my husband is 34, and the neighbor's daughter is 19. We have been married for ten years! When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that they had been having an affair for the past six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore. Can you please help? Sincerely, Sheila ************************************** Walters reply..... Dear Sheila, A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors. I hope this helps, Walter

Yet Another Remote Key Programming Issue
tpurch replied to tpurch's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have solved the problem... for information: What I didn't say in my last post was that the I had also purchased a after market blank that I intended to get cut, so I could use it to start the car as well..... I had removed the used blade and connected the blank. It appears that if the blank is connected to the remote it doesn't work. If I disconnect the blank blade and use the remote part it works fine. if i connect the used blade it works fine, but when I reconnect the blank it doesn't work, although the buttons appear to work and the light on the remote flashes!! I assume that its blocking the signal somehow. ALSO, WORD OF WARNING....I purchased the blank blade with no transponder for -
I know this topic has been covered many times but, I couldn't find any answer in other threads..... I purchased a used key from ebay (for the remote only). The key was from a ford galaxy and has the correct reference for the remote..... I have followed the procedure to program the remote keys and all works as expected. i.e. GEM enters programming mode and when i program the remote the LED on the door flashes 5 times, the LED reverts to solid light and then I re-program my original remote key and the LED flashes 5 times again. The I wait for programming mode to end and when the LED light goes out, I try to operate the first key (the one from ebay) and it doesn't open or close doors........but the original one works fine. At first I thought it maybe that the both remotes fail to register - so GEM reverts to the original setup.....so I tried to program the remote I got from ebay only........After programming, both the original and the key from ebay didn't operate the door locks. So, I reprogrammed the original remote key. Does anyone know, why the remote could register OK but fail to operate the locks?

Vag/obd-ii Add New Keys On 2002 Galaxy 2.3i
tpurch replied to purct's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
OK, I get it now.....I was lucky because the MK1 Galaxy was a pre-1997 it didn't have cripto transponder so I could get the key cloned......later models need to be registered on ECU because they can't be cloned. -
Vag/obd-ii Add New Keys On 2002 Galaxy 2.3i
tpurch replied to purct's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
From what I found the transponders keys are different. year : Technical Spec Galaxy 00> : Laser Cut Blade, Transponder ID44, Phillips Crypto, AD100/MVP Programmable, Non Cloneable Galaxy 95-00 : Laser Cut Blade, Transponder ID33, Phillips Fixed, AD100/MVP Programmable, AD90 Cloneable but I have just found this link www.silca.biz/en/33866_230178/transponder-t28_en_pdf.pdf that rather suggests that the key can now be cloned.....if thats the case I am gutted cos it would have been much cheaper...wish I had just gone back to VW in ashford, kent now - just to double check.... Guess its a question of finding the right locksmith or dealer with the gear to clone the key. -
Mk2 galaxy - I got a slight rattle from drivers door or dashboard....I haven't found out where its coming from but its driving me and the wife . Other than that I am very happy ----- so far but I have only had the car for 2 weeks. Perhaps we could have a new forum area called "Things you love about your Galaxy" because despite the common issues I have had with with the Aircon, door electrics, water in foot wells and front wipers on MK1 Galaxy, VW Sharan, i still went out and got a MK2 Galaxy and love'em (is it just me?) and I know a number people who opted for vauxhall zafira instead of the galaxy and regreted it because they had more problems than I have ever had! worst faults too....

I have had register a new account until the issue with my account is resolved, but at least automated emails are working now! also big thankyou to Mumof4 for investigating the problem! Kind Regards Terry

Vag/obd-ii Add New Keys On 2002 Galaxy 2.3i
tpurch replied to purct's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi gregers, This is user "purct" using a different account (seems to be some technical issues with my account at the moment and I am locked out  ) anyway..... I did search the forum but couldn't find the answer (may have been my search was to specific!), however I after much searching on the net for 2 days, I found out that you can't clone the Galaxy MK2 keys and VAG will not do it cos its Fords own PATS.... I called auto locksmiths after reading on there website that they can cut and program keys for mk2 galaxy and that they re-program the fords PATS too, but they were not interested (Guy on the end of phone just said cheaper to take it to Fords!). Ford's charged me
