Thanks to Ivor for the info regards resetting the dashboard display. I tried this after reading the handbook and nothing changed, but it doesn't tell you that you must do it BEFORE turning on the ignition. Result - everything is A-OK again, (till the next time). thanks again, DP.

Thanks for your replies. The advice given in the service book didn't work for me, but it was worth the try. I'll get on to the people who did the last service and ask them to try. Thanks again, DP

Hi, I recently had a small problem with temporary loss of power on my 2001 1.9TDI zetec which apparently cured itself - it's fine again now, but whenever I turn the ignition on prior to startup I get a warning light up on the dashboard display informing me that a service is required in 2000 miles. It has done 44,000 and is not due until 50,000. Does anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it? thanks, DP.
