  1. Any one ever replaced the carpet in a Galaxy?
  2. Thanks for that, but I am told the 3 key strategy is for all pre 98 Galaxys, still wondering if what they are telling me is correct i.e. 3 keys required for pre 98 and cannot deactivate immobiliser.
  3. Hi, I only got one key (a red one) when I bought my used Galaxy (96). I have lost this key and Ford say they need to order 3 keys to program them to work, they say the immobiliser has a
  4. Hi,
  5. Sorry, stupid question. what does IIRC mean? IIRC: // Common abbreviation for “If I Recall Correctly”.
  6. This info is in the Haynes manual. I can look it up for you later if no one else answers your question by then. I am told it is also on the TIS CD but I can't find it there. Eddie
  7. My 96 2.0L petrol has 90K miles. Recently at start up I hear a low screeching, which I believe is a valve sticking. I had the same sound coming from a Primera previously and sticking valves was the problem. As an oil and filter change is due should I add Slick 50 or similar when I change the oil, should an additive fix my problem? The noise only happens at cold start and lasts for about a minute of driving, also it stops with increased revs. Will it get worse if it is not resolved? Regards Eddie.
  8. I had a similar problem on a Mark 1. When I removed the door panel, part or the window winding assembly had lost a screw, which had fallen into the door. Just replaced it and all was fine. Eddie.
  9. My petrol Galaxy does the same thing. Eddie.
  10. Agreed Denis, the light cost me 66 euro (44stg) which was reasonable considering I had to go to a main dealer as there doesn’t seem to be a cheaper non branded part available. Eddie.
  11. The main dealer tells me it is welded so I will fill rather than replace. Any one had to change the rear corner lights on a pre 2000 Galaxy? I am assuming a simple job, am I in for a shock? Eddie
  12. There are small panels on the corners of both sides of the rear of the pre 2000 Galaxy. They are below the lights and above the bumper. Are they glued in place or welded. I need to replace one as I reversed into the corner of a wall. If is difficult to replace I will fill the dent rather than replacing the panel. Thanks Eddie.
  13. Getting back to the original point about the rattle. I had this in one of the rear doors and when I removed the panel (which I know you do not want to do, but it is not difficult if you follow the Haynes book) the problem was very obvious and the screw which had fallen off was in the bottom of the door so a simple fix. Regards Eddie.
  14. If you look at the new grill you will see there are a number of “legs” that point in to the Door, Ford fit these by pushing the grills in to place and then melting the legs to hold them in place. This would of course require you to remove the door panel. There is a previous post which suggests heating the legs with a soldering iron so they are spayed out at about 40 degrees from vertical and then bending the grill in to place. This is a lot easier to do than explain and it worked very well for me. To remove the old Grill just break it, It will be held in place by the melted plastic legs but this is not difficult to do. Eddie.
  15. The bulb is for illuminating the inside of the ashtray you will notice there is a small clear plastic panel on the ashtray which the light shines through. Eddie
