Cruise control on my 2002 2.3 Ghia never worked from new. Took it to dealer and they diagnosed a faulty sensor on the clutch pedal which they said they fixed. :( They hadn't fixed it and it didn't work. :( However, knowing that it was a faulty clutch sensor I soon figured out that if I hooked my left foot under the clutch pedal and pull it up as far as it will go, it would close the sensor and I could engage cruise! If I don't do this then the car thinks the clutch is depressed (physically not mentally) and refuses to engage cruise control. But at least I know how to get it to work now. As for getting it fixed, I really can't be bothered! My advise to anyone experiencing intermittant cruise control engageability (sp?) is to try pulling your clutch and brake pedal up with your toe!
