  1. yeah tried locking and unlocking via drivers door....all other doors locked and unlocked, also tried deadlocking etc. but no joy - it feels that there no connection to the lock from the handle....could be worse i suppose at least it's locked!! will try what me myself and I suggests tomorrow and post back thanks again for the advice fellas ;-)
  2. Hi guys....I'm a bit stuck - my drivers side rear door on my Mk1 Gal won't unlock. Tried jiggling the wires and after loosening rubber boot couldn't find any broken ones but now window won't open either!! Is there any way to remove door card from a closed door? Any way to unlock manually? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks in advance....Scouse
  3. Hi guys.... just an update really - still not happy with steering at all, still feels like your fighting against it when you move the wheel a little - it feels rough - could i have knackered the steering pump by having it run backwards or should i try draining the fluid and refilling?? It just feels different to how it was before the aux belt slipped off. Don't really fancy leaving it to frauds so any help or advice is always warmly received cheers guys.!
  4. Cheers, will try it in the mornin' .... let you know what happens thanks fella :-)
  5. Hello everybody, just wondering if my steering is knackered.... Did a change of aux belt with tensioner etc. last week (Thanks for all the help) and now my steering feels funny - it seems to be knotchy and not smooth like it was before. I did route the belt wrong ( As per TIS ) at first for about 2 mins.. could this of caused the problem as the P/S pump was turning the wrong way or is there a chance of air in the system?? if so can it be bled? Thanks in advance as always ---- cheers guys
  6. Hi Guys, just to say I've put the belt on as per madpete's suggestion and it works like a dream!!! so it looks like the diagram as per TIS cd is wrong.... thanks a lot to madpete ( I owe you a pint! ) :-)
  7. I've routed it via the diagram on here - for a 2.3 from the bottom its to the outside of the A/C pump, inside of P/S pump, outside of pulley, over the alternator outside of water pump, inside of tensioner and around the crank .... the thing was that the old belt seemed to be different but i put that down to it coming off while driving!! Have i got it wrong somewhere madpete ?? cheers
  8. Hi guys.... well i have put the new tensioner and new idler pulley ( thanks sparkypaul ) and new aux belt on but the car is making a terrible screeching now and i've got no Power steering or alternator. Have i got the tension wrong ? it seems awful loose or could i have got the wrong belt from fords, told them it was a P plate 2.3 ... i'm sure it should be tight and not flapping about or am i missing something dead obvious!! ------ again, thanks in advance for any help; scouse
  9. You, my friend, are a complete star - never thought to look there !!! Doh !!! will try first thing in morning and let you know how it goes...It's been said before but you guys really rock ..... thanks a million...
  10. Hi guys - I'm a bit stuck with the aux drive belt tensioner. Wife's Gal 2.3 Mk1 threw the belt the other day and when i looked the tensioner pulley had disintergrated so off to frauds to get new belt and tensioner @
  11. Well thanks for all the suggestions - took the switch apart and it was full of crud, so after a good clean and spray with WD it now behaves perfectly! thanks again everybody. :o
  12. Hi Guys, the 'rear door open' warning light on the dash has lit up @ half-brightness and refuses to go out ! Tried fiddling with plunger switch but no luck. It started last sunday when it was wet but has not resolved itself yet. it comes on full brightness when open but does not go out completely. has anyone had a similar quirk with a remedy or should i just learn to live with it. I'm driving a 2.3 Gal 97' vintage but yearning for a TDi. thanks in advance ..... scouse
