I have the dreaded 1.9 TDi Turbo power loss problem to limp home mode when you put it under stress going up hills or over taking at around 70 mph (happens other times when accelerating and changing through the gears). I have read several threads on the forum where many people have experienced the same and I get the picture it can be many things going wrong; vanes, MAF, TMAF, vacuum pipes, air filter, to name but a few. Who has successfully fixed the problem and how did you do it? For those interested my Galaxy has done 156k seems to be lowish on power generally and this may be related to the problem but I put this down to mileage and general all round wear. Interestingly the problem gets less frequent the more Redex Fuel System Cleaner I add but never goes away, happens every journey unless I slow down, change to fourth or even third when going up hills, keep it below 70 mph on the motorway in 5th or 6th unless going down hill or stick to using 4th on the motorway. Tried keeping it in 4th (4 x 35 mile journeys) to clear the vanes and this certainly reduced problem while I did it, zoomed along at 80mph no problem with around 1 drop out of the turbo per journey as it went up an incline but as soon as I tried using 5th and 6th again or tried to accelerate up a hill from say 20 to 50mph turbo drop out returned. Any ideas for the order to investigate the problem welcome.
