The whole alarm thing kind of makes sense but how did they get the electric windows down (all 4), when they had no access to the ignition?

Last night our Galaxy was broken into. It was parked on the drive, right next to the house. this wasn't your usual smash and grab as the lock on the drivers side had been punched in - so neatly that I didn't even notice it at first. What I don't understand is why the car alarm didn't go off? The car was locked - they had to get right in to take the things they did and they left all 4 windows open half way down. Has anyone experienced the same?
