OIL TYPE USED - TDI ONLY

Its fiddly, taking the old one out is easier than putting the new one in, follow the instructions and use some brute force. I drew blood doing mine ! -

Good old post ! My local dealership have a 'one oil for all' mentality ! Its the one with the white bear. Be careful, when asking for an oil change make sure they give you the container they used for the oil change just to make sure its the right stuff. -
Just to add to this topic, as many know, sold my Galaxy a couple of weeks ago after having it for a couple of years with only 1 fault (alternator pulley), it was a superb car but I just wanted a change. However, I do miss some elements of it on a daily basis, like the enormous load capacity with seats out and the high driving position, this has since been forgotten though since driving my 5 series BMW, it is in a totally different league, its high on miles but drives like its just come out of a showroom new. It was inevitable that things were going to go wrong with the Galaxy eventually, but I can't help but still think that it was and will be be for a long time one of the best cars on the road today.

They are few and far between ! :25:

As mentioned, I would not recommend it, however, if you are prepared to spend a significant amount of money and time upgrading other components then it could be ok, but as seatkid mentioned if more power could be got out of the engine then the manufacturers would already do it. The 130bhp and 150bhp variants have uprated differences in the design. Anyway I have a BMW 525D now, might get it remapped ! NOT !!! and yes I had mine done by a very helpful and highly recommended local firm, but as mentioned you are doing it at your own risk, I don't blame them for my greedy desire to make my ex bus go faster !
-
I had my Galaxy remapped as the regulars on here will remember a few years ago, it was significantly quicker and for the short term far superior, it was like your a 115bhp and it was remapped to nearer 150bhp, this created huge issues with overheating and eventually a cracked cylinder head that lead to me having to trade the car on. If you do decide to have it done then don't forget to upgrade the cooling system, turbo, exhaust etc etc and inform your insurance company, when I phoned my insurance they said it was uninsurable without a full written report from a specialist ! So to cut a long story shorter, if you want a 150bhp then buy one factory done ! Sorry to be so negative, just speaking from experience.

You never know, you might be right, lets see how I get on with the Beemer, at least its better on fuel than my last attempt at trying to leave the Galaxy behind (ST220) ! It did drive nice on the test run. I'll pop in often to see how you're all doing with the Gal's. Now its time to go and see if BMW really is 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' ! -

Well, its a sad day, had someone come all the way from Northern Scotland today to buy the Galaxy, it sold off ebay motors ! I was sad to see her go and wondered why I'd done it really. Fancied a change to something new, as I don't need a 7 seater. Sold it with the Parrot installed for a quick sale, even through in the DVD screens, so I'll have to take a look for some more to fit my..............BMW 525D SE auto tourer. Took the plunge last week and left a deposit on one, superb car with all the spec options ticked, full grey leather, factory fit widescreen sat nav/DVD, heated seats, panoramic glass roof, xenons, 18" alloys etc and at a fraction of the price it cost new -

Fit some -50mm G-Max springs ! They offer the Gal much more of a sporty ride and very little sacrifice to ride quality.
