Hi, Thanks, very complicating stuff i must say. Well i have decided to go for a 14" as it is not to big and i hope and should think it wont casue a problem. Majority of websites using there search recommend if i go for 14" would be 165/60/14 Does that sound ok? I mean do you think there will be any problems as i am only going up 1 inch in size from 13" to 14"? (from 165/65R/13 to 165/60R/14) Also what do you reckon of these (LINK) , Are they good make such as quality? as i read that some buckle very easily. Also if you scroll down it will show you how it looks on a KA, do you think it suits the KA? Thank you, KaLover

LOL. My maths is good thank you just not when it comes to cars. The information i got from a website says: do the following when increasing wheel/tyre by 1" Increase the tyre section width by 10mm Decrease the tyre aspect ratio by 10 points Increase the wheel rim diameter by 1 inches my size is 165/65R/13 T77 now if i go for 14" example it tells me to increae width by 10mm which means from 165 to 175, then decrease ratio by 10points which for me would be from 65R to 55R and add 1 inch to make 14 inch is that correct? sorry the last one i increased for a 15" not 14" if you get me, my mistake.

Hi, I am not sure if i should had put this in my last post about alloy wheels but thought make a new one. Rite here we go again lol ..... My current wheel/tyres are 165/65R/13 T77 I want to go from 13 inch to 15 :13: But ..... Will a 15" fit a Ford KA, as in enough room in wheel arch etc? and will i have to alter the car in anyway to put a 15" on the car? This is the bit i am confused about ... from a website it says: do the following when increasing wheel/tyre by 1" Increase the tyre section width by 20mm Decrease the tyre aspect ratio by 20 points Increase the wheel rim diameter by 2 inches So to go from 13" to 15" i would need 205/05R/15? i dont think that is rite as i can find a 205 but the ratio reducing it by 40 points would leave it with 05 and i cant find any which is 205/05/15. Can someone really help me and explain it and tell me if i went for 15" what i would need as i dont want to put anything on there that will require modification to my KA and make road handling poor as ford offset what ever that is, is offset 36 and most of them are more than 36 which i read online increasing the offset can cause car handling problems specially in wet/winder conditions. If someone could tell me the exact size etc for 14" and 15" as not decided yet which would look better and that will be a great help for me to go and buy, my brothers reckon see that 13 inch is crap and i should go for 15" but i dont trust everything they say so wanted to check and see what you think would look better :13: Thank you, M. Russell

Hi, If anyone can answer the following i will go ahead and buy but need to know somethings first, Ignore all the rest i have asked above. 1) The tyres i got on my car are only 6 weeks old can i get the garage to take tyre off and put them on the new alloys or are the tyres for alloys different to standard wheel?, the alloy wheels i will be buying are the same size as what i already got on my car. R165/65/R13 2) This question will be answered by above, do tyres for alloys cost more than standard wheel tyres? or does it not make any difference 3) Am i able to put 14 inch alloys on my car without having to adjust or buy things like suspension etc what ever they are? reason for asking is 14 inch has nicer design than 13 inch and not many 13 inch around infact only found 13 inch alloys for ka direct from ford from link above. which they are alot more expensive than non ford brand alloys. 4) Just choose same size wheel/tyre will be buying a package, and remove old and replace with new? that simple? i know how to do a wheel change / replace a tyre on my car so is that all i need to know to fit alloys to my KA? 5) If i am changing to alloy wheels do i have to buy brake discs or will the ones on my car be ok? they are in good nick shiny etc, asking as thought might have to have different kind of brake discs for alloys 6) When you buy alloys as a package what does the package consist of? i know the it will include alloy and tyre obviously, but bolts etc i mean Please answer if you can, sorry to be a pain in the neck once someone has answered these questions i would have learnt another thing :o plus i will go and buy the alloys and fit them myself and go to my dad (he is a genuis with cars) and say what you think of my new alloys then? :D he will probably reply, who fit them for you as you not got a clue lol and then he will probably say i will check to make sure they are bolted on tight lol kalover

Oh also how much is it approx to change a tyre on an alloy? is it more expensive, i pay

LOL What suggests that i am female? I am MALE (ROFL) What do you mean by rims? I will get the same size wheel and tyre which is already on my car if i can, i think they are 13 inch, will check tomoz. So i dont need special brakes, discs etc for alloys or anything then? Seems to only go from 15 inch :D (with alloys) for ford KA Just choose same size wheel/tyre will be buying a package, and remove old and replace with new? that simple? i know how to replace a tyre on my car so is that all i need to know to fit alloys to my KA? Also i have been reading something about offset, that it should be the same as manufacturer or something otherwise could effect performance/handling etc? again will try and find out offset what ever it is for ma KA and not sure how to know what off set a alloy wheel has. I also been looking and most ford KA tyres are 15 inch, why i dont know i know people likes bigger ones etc on there car but have not came across a 13 inch alloy yet, will check to see if mine is 13or 14 not sure what the standard size is will look tomoz. also when you buy a package what does the package consist of apart from alloy wheel and tyre of course? Sorry for all the questions, just ignore if i am driving you mad Thank you kalover

Hi Everyone, Yep back again to ask another question :D Help from members has been freat so thank you, learnt a thing or two since registering :o If i was to add alloy wheels to my Ford KA is there a guide anywhere with pictures ? Also is it a matter of changing my standard wheels/tyres for alloy wheel ones as long as they are the same size of course or do i have to change other things for alloy wheels to be able to be used on my car? Thank you kalover I am happy to say thanks to forums like this i have learnt alot, i have managed to change my air filter, oil filter and renew oil, change a tyre, remove ICV and clean ICV to stop over reving and tighten handbrake. This may not sound like much to some people but i have not got a clue about cars and thanks to people online and my haynes manual i have learnt to do the above. I hate paying garages over the top prices for a few minutes work plus they click on that i am a novice and try ripping me off has happened several times. I reckon i have saved a bob or two by learning the above and doing it myself plus did not have to drive to a garage, book and wait etc. My OH thou knows someone who is very nice and charges very reasonable prices. He replaced my whole exhaust on my car, reset my Ford KA computer and checked for errors, fixed my rear light as lights was playing up and blinking strangely all for a tenner, thats what i call a generous man, i had to pay for new exhaust of course

Hi everyone, I want to change the carpet in my ford ka as it looks a little tatty. Do anyone know where i could buy one from?, a search on google and ebay seems to think i want car mats. A ford dealer would probably cost an arm and a leg, i will be fitting myself. Thank you, kalover

ok thanks, think i will leave it as dont quite understand still exactly how much i have to turn to get it to 4Nm

Hi Everyone, I am new here so be nice :) I have been looking in my Haynes manual to adjust my handbrake as it could do with just a little tightening. It says the following: 1) Fully release the handbrake then apply the footbrake firmly several times to ensure that the self-adjustment mechanism is fully adjusted. (no problems with this bit of course) 2) Lift the handbrake lever gaiter from the floor to gain access to the adjuster nut on the side of the lever (no problems with this bit) 3) From the fully released position, pull the handbrake lever up noting the number of clicks emitted from the handbrake lever on the sixth notch of the mechanism then slacken the adjusting nut until it rotates freely. This part i understand aswell but then it says: Adjust the handbrake by tightening the adjuster nut to 4.0Nm then refit the gaiter. I am a novice with cars but i have had a look and is easy peasy but i dont understand the bit when it says "Adjust the handbrake by tightening the adjuster nut to 4.0Nm" what is 4.0Nm? and how do i know when i have adjusted to 4.0Nm? Thank you, kalover
