Vagcom or similar would help in at least identifying that it is indeed the OS front sensor. Also it would then allow you to swap the sensor with another and see if the fault followed the sensor or stayed with the wheel. It is also extremely handy in identifying other faults and issues and worth having at the price. Thanks to all who have replied, my son is due to pop up Monday or Tues to have a look , he isborrowing a laptop and VagCom from work, so we will see what happens, will keep you all posted. Thaks Steve
