Hi , Has anyone fitted a K n N Filter to there Mk 1 (1999) Galaxy or are they not worth the bother ? would be interesting to know as I need to replace my filter and thought about my taking the whole air box off and replace it with a K/N induction kit or a panel filter ,any thoughts people? Hi All ,We have a 1999 Ghia X for a couple of weeks the passenger side rear electric window has stopped working ,just now I went to move the car in the drive and the window went a bit ape! it started moving up and down not far about 2"all by its self ,no switches were touched , but it has stopped with a 2" gap at the top of the window (in the open position). I have gone too each switch in turn , on the dash and in the door and there is no life at all . Can anybody help so as I can at least get the window closed . Cheers.

Hi All , Well I have been away awhile but we now have another Galaxy in the family as of yesterday it is a black Ghia X on a T plate ,it has a couple of issues to put right , 1 Drivers side indicator clear lense 2 CD player magazine (The bit you put the CDs in) 3 2 Speakers for the 2 rear passenger doors 4 The plastic trim on the very bottom of the front bumper ( comes in 2 halfs) So can you tell me if there is a scrap yard somewhere that does Galaxy parts not just for these bits but for future parts . When we arrived to see the car the first thing I saw was the GHIA X badges on the front wings so the fact that it might not be one went straight out of my head after that , so I suppose it is my fault for not checking the paper work more closely and another thing I would do next time is leave the kids (2 and 5 years old) with someone in the family as they were a big distraction on the day , its not there fault but it did not help matters . The wife is more than happy with it so I suppose thats the important thing. I have also bought and sold a lot of cars over the years without any problems so I suppose its just my turn to get rolled over anyway it could worse it could be the wrong chassis number or something . Well ,I have been into Ford dealership this morning and it looks like we have been done over as the Galaxy we have bought is a Ghia not a Ghia X ,as the car was bought privately have we any chance of getting anything back ?? I also noticed the people we bought it off bought the car from a company called "just diesels" and they sold it as a Ghia NOT a Ghia X so the owner we got it off sold it as a Ghia X so its him who has been abit naughty. Any ideas where we can go from here??

Forgot to say it has a heated front screen.

Here we go this what we have in our "Ghia X". Six electric windows (including the rear compartment) Climate control Some lovely fake wood Cover for boot area Swivelling front seats Computer (MPG,FUEL RANGE,ETC.....) Cruise control large alloys Privacy glass Lots of interior lighting.........think thats it. Now what we dont have. Heated seats Vents in roof for a/c Electric seats.

Yep turned off A/C and the fans stopped now to see when the fan comes on when the engine is really hot . Thanks gain for the help and tips.

It does have Ghia X badges on the front wings and some big alloys on ,the car was bought privately but I really dont think the people who sold it were trying it on as they were very genuine people. I think I will go along to a dealer and see what they say.

So where does the A/C come out in the back ?as I have climate control for the rear seats.

When we bought our Galaxy it was advertised as a 1.9 tdi galaxy Ghia X but now I am not so sure ,this has come to light after reading the hand book about where the rear A/C vents were ,the hand book says they should be in the roof but ours does not have vents in the roof so I phoned up a ford dealership in Milton Keynes and they could not tell me if it was a Ghia X or not they said there system says its a Ghia ,it does have Ghia badges on the front wings but I know that does not mean its the real thing,so my question is what spec should a 1999 Ghia X have or how can I find out ,Ford said to bring the car along to the dealership and a salesman would look over the car and tell me what it is ,I really thought they would be able to find the spec it was built to via they records , any thoughts would be helpful. Just got back from a week in yorkshire ,our first long journey since buying our 1.9TDI GhiaX, Auto, 1999, 3 weeks ago ,the car went really well but a couple of issuses came up while we were there . NO. 1, The 2 fans at the front on the rad start up as soon as the the engine is fired up from cold and they come on for about 3 seconds and go off again then back on again its almost like stop/start stop/start and this happens all the time from cold ,any thoughts ? NO.2, The temp gauge went really high, over the 3/4 mark after going up some very steep hills ,it never boiled up ,but got very hot then went back slowly . Iam just trying to get used to what these cars should and should not do as I have not had to much experience with the general running of the Galaxy any help would be much appreciated . We also got 41 mpg while doing the long runs and we only used 1/4 of a tank of fuel getting from Thirsk to Buckinghamshire

Are there any meets happening in the near future with this forum it would be a great way to meet other people and discuss there problems ,I belong to the BMW 7 series register and we have meets every month at the Navigator pub in Stoke Bruene and we also go along to some great car shows as a group ,so I just wondered if that sort of thing happens here.

Afternoon all , Signed up to this forum afew days ago having just bought the wife a 1999 1.9TDI GhiaX Auto in Satin Silver ,had second thoughts about buying a auto box but having had it a week it is really very good its almost to the point of you do not notice the fact it is a auto box ,it is fairly nippy cosidering and smooth with it and ona run returning just over 40mpg and round town 35-36 mpg so happy on the that so far . Could any body recommend a company that does chipping we want to up the bhp alittle and maybe the mpg . Thanks .
