Don't worry I phoned a Ford dealer and got the information I required.

Hi, I have a 'N' plate Galaxy Ghia. due to water damage the 'central locking CPU has been damaged beyond repair. Stupidly I gave the unit to the guy who towed me back home on his promise that he would try and get a second user unit for me. Yep you guessed it I haven't seen him since. Does anyone know the part number so I can get a replacement? Mine has 2 sockets 1 plug has about 8 terminals and the other about 20 pins. Any help appreciated. Also after reading some of the posted threads there is an implication that you do not need this unit to start the galaxy is this true or am i just being too hopeful.
