Parking Sensor Fault
stourwalk replied to stourwalk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As mentioned in the original post - checked under the passenger seat for water - everything is bone dry.. I'm assuming the constant faint beeping is an error indication (if I press the Parking Sensor button after they've been turned on then the beeping stops) -
Hi, We previously had one of the rear parking sensors fail and determined via the 'clicking' which one it was and replaced it and everything has been working well for ages. A week or so ago however they've stopped working again - I *think* this time it's the control box that's not well - but would welcome suggestions! When we put the car in reverse we get a very faint beeping noise coming from the area of the control box (under the passenger seat) and nothing else. No lights on the button by the radio and definitely no parking sensors! None of them click (which I presume is because the control box is faulty). i've checked for water, but it all appears as dry as a bone.. I don't have access to VAG-COM or anything similar (am in Bournemouth if anyone local can help!). Wife is going spare not having the sensors.. is a new control box the most likely explanation? Cheers Chris

Hi, My wife has got a 2003 Galaxy Ghia 1.9TD (Auto) and the brake pad warning light has come on and I was after a little bit of advise. Does this relate to the front or rear pads? I was looking at getting the Pads from EBC, but was slightly confused as to which ones to get, EBC have a specific 2003-2006 category for the front pads, whereas every other online place has a single 2000-2006 section - and the pads appear different and obviously I don't want to get the wrong ones! Can anyone clarify what size pads I should be getting (with/without sensor wires) Is there a better supplier that I should get them from (apart from Frauds)? The unwinding tool mentioned as being available from GSF - anyone know the part number? Help! Chris

Hi, Having tried to get a quote for the Alternator Pulley - I got this response ---- Thankyou for your enquiry. It was not until 17-01-2005 that the Pulley was serviced seperately from the Alternator unfortunately. Prior to this build date it was part of the Alternator. If you require a quotation for the Aletrnator please forward to me the 7 digit VIN/Chassis number and i will quote accordingly. ---- Are they talking rubbish and should I go elsewhere? I was asking for 022 903 119C as mentioned by Littledaz earlier in the thread.. Chris

Hi, My wife's 03 Galaxy 1.9TDI has just started making the same sort of noise as described in this thread and despite being a bloke who is supposed to understand cars I've not the faintest clue about things engine related (now if it was a computer I'd be fine!) I can understand the steps described (to a certain extent) - but could someone *please* post some pictures of what I'm looking for and how to test it (and if life were perfect step by step idiot instructions on how to refit it). I'd hate to hand over a fortune to Fraud for something that I could do myself with a little bit of photo hand holding... Please..... Chris

Hi! Help - I'm confused! My wife's Galaxy (2003) has developed a habit of smoking badly after short journeys. The smoke is definitely coming from the Aux Heater exhaust pipe. 3 things to note. 1) It stinks 2) There is an awful lot - not just a little, but enough to envelope the car and surrounding area - the sort of amount that makes you think the cars on fire and/or very embarrassed to be in the car! 3) We get the good old turbine noise - so the blowers working if nothing else :-) It usually happens after shortish journies (taking the kids to school etc), but doesn't wait until the car has been turned off, so we can have driven 1/2 mile to the traffic lights and be waiting there (on a slight upward hill) when you notice smoke pouring out of the back of the car and wafting out from the front! VERY disconcerting! We had the Galaxy last winter and it never did it then, and it's only started doing it this badly in the last month - it started occasionally and is now doing it on a daily basis.. Is it likely to be the glowplug issue or something else broken - since neither of us would want to keep the car if this is normal! Thanks in advance Chris

Sat Nav With Sony Cd Changer
stourwalk replied to a topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Unfortunately there are at least 3 different convertors around, some Audi-Sony, some VW-Sony. I guess we're were hoping for a definitive answer from someone on which one works. Yet again, I'll remain disappointed.. -

I would also like to know which one to use - although also finding out for the Sony T70 (MP3 capable one) would be useful, since I can't decide which one to go for. -
Just fill in the online parts request and they'll get back to you usually the same day. It's actually Edwards Ford in Salisbury and are quite happy for you to pick bits up directly (just as cheaply) Chris

You would like to think so - except they don't use standard ISO connectors.. Oh and the Halfords Ford-to-ISO converter one has the permanent 12V and switched 12V connectors round the wrong way...
