  1. Thanks Bleeno, i haven't tried that yet so I'll give it a go and report back. Well I tried that but I'm not convinced, primarily because the lens cleaner required me to select track 1, then track 15, to ensure that the lens was clean. Try doing that in your Sat Nav! I'll search out a different lens cleaner and see how I go. |\/|

  3. Hi all, I am having issues with my sat nav CD and wondered if anyone can offer suggestions as to what may be going wrong. Over the last twelve months it has taken longer and longer to start up. When I turn the unit on the music works fine but the sat nav system displays "Cannot read CD" or something similar. After about fifteen minutes it changes to "This is not a proper CD" and five minutes or so later it starts working properly. I have been using a 2004 CD so I sprung for a newer one (2004/2005) but the delay is about the same. Is this the unit itself or do I have to get a brand new CD? |\/|artin
  4. Hi all, Around London last night it rained a fair bit. Not a huge deluge but more than just a shower you understand. This morning our Galaxy refused to start. All the ignition lights came on as normal but when I turned the key to start it up nothing happened. My first thought was that the ignition key transponder had broken (again) but on trying to start it again four hours later it started up... and died again immediately. Starting it and keeping the revs high for about 20 seconds seemed to resolve the tickover problem and I was able to drive off. The question is: Did the rain cause this and if so, what exactly did it do? I mean, it's not like the car has never seen rain before, we've had it for more than three years and it sits out in the road all the time, not in a garage. It's not like rain is new to it or anything! Any ideas, thoughts or opinions? |\/|artin
  5. Hi all, I have seen around that there is a shareware version of the VAG-COM software and it seems I can pick up the cable to connect it/my laptop to my Galaxy from eBay for a few quid. The question is: Can I use the downloaded software, without paying the $99 registration fee, to code a new new into the PATS system of my Gal? I only have one key at the moment so can't use the standard way of coding a new key, and I don't want to have to spend another
  6. Thanks all for your assistance. Unfortunately since I don't have another key or two I cannot simply reprogram the broken one. I checked the key I have and it does have the black plastic PATS thing in it still, so that's not the issue either. NikpV, are you saying that I can get a replacement key, presumably without the remote control locking stuff, coded for my Gal for
  7. Hi all, My Ford Galaxy automatic 2.3 Ghia, 51 registration, suddenly doesn't want to start. It was fine this afternoon but on the way home I noticed that the light on the key itself was still lit five minutes after starting the engine . I went home and pulled the battery out of the key and re-inserted it, which fixed the key's LED problem, but now it won't start the engine. The remote control button works fine at locking and unlocking, as does the key itself, but when I put the key in the ignition and turn it the engine doesn't start and the LED on the driver-side door flashes like mad. I have tried wiggling the gearstick between P and N to see if it's the switch but to no avail. I only have the one key as I haven't saved up the
  8. Hi all, Having seen various people mention VAG-COM in these forums I went and had a nose for myself. It seems to be a system for diagnosing faults with the Galaxy, so I carried on searching, and on eBay there are a number of connectors on offer, but they seem to talk about OBD versions. Can anyone tell me what OBD version of cable I should be looking for, and/or what sort of software is out there to assist? Cheers all, |\/|artin
  9. Hi all, My Galaxy's air con died two years ago, but due to financial difficultes I was unable to afford the quoted
  10. Ah, got it! I added the picture before but then previewed the reply. It looks like it got lost then! |\/|
  11. umm is it only me tht can't see it ??? if you are having trouble adding a pic see here Hmm, that's what I did. Let's try it again shall we? |\/|
  12. Attached is a pic that gives you a bit of an idea of the problem. You can see the metal bracket that is in the way. The problem exists on my Ford Galaxy 2.3i 51 reg. I'm going to get that bracket out this week, come what may... |\/|artin
  13. Why is it so difficult to change that bulb? I can't figure out how to get the bulb holder back in with a fresh bulb in it! That flaming metal bracket is in the way! How do you do it? |\/|artin
  14. Thanks Marky. One of the people over there suggested that the aeriel might be broken. I replaced it with a horsepill GPS antenna and it's al working again! :)
  15. Hi all, I have a SatNav in my Galaxy that has a big colourful display. It says Ford on it but investigation reveals it to be an OEM-ed Blaupunkt model. It's all wired in fine and it generally keeps track of my location correctly, but occasionally it loses my location and I have to manually reset it. I have never seen any GPS satellite reception on it and every time I check it via the Settings menu it says something like "27 GPS satellites available, 0 found" . I have pulled the unit out and there is what looks to be a GPS aerial connected in the upper right side (while viewing the rear of the unit) although I have yet to trace the other end of the cable. There is another connector which has nothing attached to it at the bottom-middle of the back, for a hands-free phone setup maybe? I have seen mention of enabling a test setting for other SatNav units, does anyone know of a similar thing on this unit? I did find a manual which I think is for this unit: http://www.vwnavi.com/vwnavi/photos/thumbnails.php?album=14 but there is no mention of any troubleshooting features (or anything technical at all) there, nor any mention of the connections to the rear  . Can anyone offer any suggestions for getting my satellite views back, the connections to the rear and/or checking the unit out? Cheers, |\/|artin
