  1. I have all the classic symptoms, flashing heater coil warning lamp and no brake lights. This has been 'Fixed' by two separate fraud dealers and one independent, each time the fault reappears sometimes immeadiately sometimes in a few weeks. The first time it happened, I was told a replacement brake light switch was fitted. The second time, I wasn't told what the cure was it only lasted a couple of days anyhow. The third time I was told the fuse and bulb had blown. The gal has just been back to a fraud dealership for a fourth attempt, they can't find the fault and have replaced the fuse and bulb, which I assume will blow again. Anyone had anything similar or got any ideas? 2004 Tdi Gal Zetec, with factory towbar. Cheers, P
  2. I also fitted a 10" screen with an integral DVD. I used a similar method to connectms, I cut out a piece of 1/2" plywood about 7" square then put five 1" square feet on it, I screwed and glued the feet on. I then cut out a section of the headling to alow the ply to be pushed up to the metal roof. Then I used araldite to fix the five feet to the roof. I used a slow cure araldite and wedged the ply firmly against the roof for 24 hours and did not use the galaxy during this time. I then screwed the metal mounting plate to the ply and the 10" DVD player to the metal plate. For power I soldered a cable to the front light console and ran it through the gap between the headling and the roof, I wouldn't recomend this as it may overload the wiring but it has worked okay for three months now. This method means you don't have to drop the roof lining.
  3. I fitted and 8.4 flip down with integral DVD to my 04' gal, I cut out a section of the headlining with a stanley knife and bonded a plywood base to the metal roof with a slow cure epoxy resin it has been installed for six months so I don't think it is going to fall off now. If you have a separate DVD and screen you will likely have to partially drop the headlining to rout the cables. I have not done this my self but others on this board say it is no big deal. The plywood base was made of an 8" square piece of 9mm ply with five 1" square plywood pads glued to it. I did this to allow for the curavture of the roof, you may be able to just bond a flat piece of ply to the roof. When I glued it to the roof I wedged it in place using a broom handle and left if for 24hours. I ran power from the drivers interior light set and put a switch in the circuit, I don't know if this is a good idea but it is what I did. Cheers, P
  4. I fitted a roof mount 8" with integral DVD player last week, it is mounted centrally just behind the drivers head so that all the people in the middle row of seats can see it. I have a MkII Zetec TDI so I did not have A/C roof vents or a sunroof to worry about. In this position it does partially obscure the rear view mirror. I made up a plywood mounting plate, cut a section out of the headlining using a sharp stanley knife and bonded it to the roof using a 2-part epoxy resin it has only been installed for a couple of days so I can't guaruntee this method works. I removed the driver's interior light panel and fed the wires for the player up to the headlining cutout section. Prior to doing this I soldered the units power wires to the interior lighting PCB. I didn't think about the power suoply properly because I think it is 'always on' to the interior light pcb so I will have to take it apart and fit a switch. Ideally you would take a feed from the igniton switch so that power is only fed to the unit when the key is in the ignition so you don't flatten the battery. If you ask nicely I could be persuaded to take some pictures and post them.
  5. Thanks for the advice, fortunately it is still under warranty so I'll let them sort it out. Well worth knowing this as I intend to keep the Gal past her warranty. Many thanks, P
  6. My glow plug light has also just started flashing about 2 mins after I start the engine. The manual says this indicates a fault and to get it checked out by a dealer so I have booked it in. The vehicle seems to be driving normally so it may be a sensor fault.
  7. I have just been quoted these prices by Lifestyle ford in Tunbridge wells for my 04 plate TDI Galaxy. Just wondered what you guys think. Front Brake Pads
  8. Hi, I recently replaced the front tyres (215/55 ZR16 97W MXM Michlen Pilots) on my 04 TDI after 25,000 miles. I am not a careful driver but a lot of that mileage was on the motorway. Cheers, P
  9. 04 Galaxy TDI 30k on my clutch so far. If you bought the car from a ford dealership then you need to go back to them and ask them to pay for the repair. Ask for a full refund first if you get no joy then ask for % I would personally ask for 80%. If you still get no joy write a letter to the dealer detailing your claim and indicate that if you cannot reach an agreement that you will pursue the matter through the small claims court. You should point the dealer to the Sale of Goods act which states that all goods sold should be fit for purpose. You have a strong case that the vehicle they supplied was faulty. Indicate a date when if you have not resolved the matter to your satisfaction you will proceed to the small claims court. If the dealer does not respond positively lodge a claim with http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk it only takes ten minutes and will cost you around
  10. Hi Steven, What sort of mileage do you get out of a set of fronts ? Cheers, P
  11. My TDI Galaxy has Michlen Pilot 215/55 ZR16 97W MXM's fitted and needs two new front tyres. I went to a local shop that can supply exact replacements for
  12. I have an 04' galaxy with a 6 disc in dash stereo which I wish to add an aux input to so that I can play my ipod through the cars stereo. I think I need an FM modulator to do this and as far as I can see these need to be connected inline with the antenna and fed some power. Can anyone tell me if this is easy to do and offer tips on the best way to go about it. I would like to make the installation as discreet as possible. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Charlie
