Hi Scorch! I have the same problem with my Galaxy (1997 2.3 GLX Auto). The red/yello wire is broken and I'm unable to get to the wire in the pillar to see if I can pull it out a little. If I can somehow manage this I will simply solder the two parts back together! The wire seems to control the up/down on the drivers window and the up of the passenger window. I have manually touching the two parts of the cut wire together to open the window before I set out and then again to close it when I get back - sad, I know but I can't find a way of fixing it. :)
