BrianH - what forum is that ? -
Brake Pad Wear Sensor Wiring
Audiman replied to Audiman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just confirmed it - petrol spilnes and diesel splines on the hubs are the same. Removed the ABS sensor and cabing - had to drill it out due to corrosion. Inserted old wiring from TDI with split cables for ABS and brake pad wear sensor. All good now - happy days -
Brake Pad Wear Sensor Wiring
Audiman replied to Audiman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I know what happened - I'd purchased a secondhand nearside hub unit from a Galaxy 2.3 Petrol thinking it would be the same as a Galaxy 1.9 TD Zetec model. The Galaxy 2.3 petrol unit came with the cabling, so I thought I'd use the same cabling. When I installed the new struts and the Galaxy 2.3 Petrol hub - there was nothing to attach the brake wear sensor cabling. The 2.3 Petrol unit only had the ABS cable where as the 1.9 TD Zetec has one cable that splits into two - one for ABS and one for brake wear sensor. Problem resolved. Now I think the hub splines are different on a 2.3 Petrol compared to a 1.9TD. Can someone confirm that's the case ? -
Guys this may sound like a stupid question - Where the the wiring go from the brake pad sensor ( brake pads to the strut clip, then from the strut clip to ?????). I've got a Galaxy TDI Zetec - I've recently done the front suspension struts, but I cannot find what I've done with wiring for the brake pad sensor. I can see that the wiring from the brake pads goes to a clip on the strut. I seem to have lost the other end (ie from the clip to the computer). Ether I unplugged it or tucked it away - dohhhhhh ?

Brake Line Diagram Rear Pipes
Audiman replied to Audiman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the diagram BrianH - also good advice as ever from Sparky regarding steel pipes and lube. Man ..... on another note, I was changing the front shocks, you guessed it - top nut rusted to hell on both sides. Took me two days to get the buggers out. I thought I was on the home run when the pinch bolt holding shock the snapped in the hub - rust, rust and more rust. I tried WD40, heat, tried drilling it out - I'm going to get a nut welded to the other end. Away it's Frday tomorrow - have a good weekend ! -
Brake Line Diagram Rear Pipes
Audiman replied to Audiman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the reply chaps - Yes the brake pipes are quite corroded. Blimey, if the joints are near the front cross member, then thats a big job!!!! I'll have to put joints in the steel brake line. I've ordered a flaring tool - Copper would be easy to flare, I'm not sure if the steel pipes will flare that easy. Has anyone joined steel to copper using a flared join. -
My Galaxy Mk2 2003 TDI failed it's MOT on corroded rear brake pipes Has anyone got a link to brake pipe diagram from front to rear brake pipes. I don't particularly want to change the whole pipes from front to rear - maybe there's union under the heat shield.

I've got a Galaxy MK2 2003 TDI 115 bhp - I need to change the rear brake pipes for the MOT. Do you know size diameter I need to purchase & fittings. I want to use copper pipes and join them to existing metal pipe by using a compression joint. Happy to receive any suggestions.

I've got a Galaxy MK2 6 speed Zetec 2003 TDI. Please can someone tell me what gearbox oil I need - I've done 183,000 miles and think it's time to change the gearbox oil.

Has anyone got a VAGCOM around Leicester ? I can't figure out which sensor is faulty. All the sensors click fine. Maybe the VCDS will be able pin point faulty sensor or determine faulty parking module.

Guys, I got a similar problem. Every time I select reverse, I get all sorts of bleeps and buzzers going off, I'm beginning to think that the police are chasing me too !!! I've tested every sensor both on the front and rear. There is usual ticking sound coming from all the sensors, so I know these are working okay. I've also checked the wiring on the front bumber - all looks good though. I've heard of water ingress under the passenger side seat affecting the control unit. There is no sign of water here though. I need to test the control unit and speaker - is there any way I can make sure before spending cash unnecessarily.

I've got a Galaxy MK2 2003 TDI. The air conditioning stopped working. I;ve checked all the fuse = OK Checked fuses next to battery = OK. The compressor doesn't engage when air con button is pressed. I can see the compressor pulley remain stationary. Both fans at the front of the vehicle aren't turning either. Is there any other checks I can do? ...... if the compressor has failed, why aren't the fans turning. I've got a Golf TDI, when I press air con, both compressor engages and both fans startup. My guess is that it's an electrical issue ?

Hi, I've got a Galaxy MK2 1.9TDI. The air conditioning stopped working last week. I've checked the air con. clutch, looks like its not engaging. I've also checked all the fuses in the fuse box and near the battery. All fuses are good. Does anyone know what relay to check (ie relay number and location - suspect its behind the fuse box. Also I've read that the clutch may not engage because of low pressure in the system.
