Maf Sensor And Turbo Questions
ianyerman replied to ianyerman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
problem sorted, turned out to be fuel temp sensor and wasnt showing fault via vagcom, just giving a duff reading to the ecu -
has anyone changed a fuel temp sensor, not the one inside the pump. the one which is in the fuel line. how much was it and how long did it take to do? mine is not showing up in vagcom as a fault but when i plug the resistor tunning box in the car comes back to life, but not the way it should be,

Hi all, my Alhambra is suffering from under boosting limp mode, to cut a long story short turbo has just been rebuilt, new maf fitted all vac pipes checked and when you cycle the n75 boost control valve via vagcom you can hear exhaust sound change. When under car and watching the turbo actuator then get someone to start the engine the actuator sucks into position via the vacuum, rev the engine and the actuator moves so it's working, also when ya stop the engine a few seconds later you can here the actuator returning to it's rest position, Car feels very sluggish and no power at low revs but if you rev it out the turbo really pulls at around 3500 rpm, the only fault I'm getting under normal driving is negative pressure so its under boosting. Have removed the cat and tried it and no difference, also removed and cleaned the erg valve. Have noticed oil blowing out of the small hole under the diaphragm of the erg valve, would it be possible the erg valve is blowing passed and opening letting the boost out into the exhaust causing low boost pressure? Am going to block off the erg valve and try it but has any one else had a problem like this? Could it be a possible map sensor fault as this all started the same time as the turbo blew?

checking the vacuum pipes and noticed the n75 boost control valve is very very warm, is this normal? -
Maf Sensor And Turbo Questions

got new maf sensor today, could only get an intermotor 19600 sensor, right one listed for my car, turbo is now kicking in but not until about 3000rpm and with a bang, no limp mode or fault codes anymore. starting to think i have built the vnt togeather wrong, its moving freely as i checked all of this when building turbo, also when you watch the acutaor arm while reving the engine its moveing so the vacum is working -
Maf Sensor And Turbo Questions
ianyerman replied to ianyerman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
worked out how to data record via vagcom and went for a drive, maf readings are way out from what the ecu is looking for. going tomorrow to get a new maf sensor and hope this sorts the problem. -
Maf Sensor And Turbo Questions

If I clear fault codes wife can drive car all day with no fault code, just says it has no power, only throws up fault code when I drive and try to rev it out, turbo vanes moving ok as when up on ramp and someone in the car reving it you can clearly see the control rod moving, -
Maf Sensor And Turbo Questions
ianyerman replied to ianyerman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
think the charge error is comming on because the maf is not letting the fuel in as its not telling how much air its getting which is not letting the turbo boost then when you rev it on out its under boosting which throws the fault up, doesnt go into limp mode untill you rev it on out. at low rpm it feels very sluggish as if there is something restricting the exhaust / airfilter wife informes me that it like shuttered a few times before the loss of power started a few weeks ago -
hi, have a few questions about the maf sensor, will keep this simple, seat alhambra 1.9tdi 115, I dont drive this car much, wife does was driving it on family day out, was stuck behind a car for about 10 miles doing about 40mph, went to pass it noticed it was in limp mode, switched off and restarted engine but went back into limp mode, about 2 miles later turbo blows, smoke everywhere, got the car home (about 5 mile so drove it) stripped turbo put new center core in cleaned vnt rebuilt all into car, all going great took for test drive all smoke cleared, car felt very sluggish and no power, noticed car trying to boost but unable to, feels like something holding it back, engine just cant rev freely. noticed turbo wisle and then stops when goes into limp mode vag com says 17964 charge pressure control negative p1556 - 35-00 checked turbo waste gate and all fine, all vacum pipes fine. removed exhaust incase cat was blocked still the same, removed and cleaned the egr valve and still the same no other faults showing up on vagcom, when you unplug the maf sensor it shows up as a fault and same with the map/temp sensor was woundering if a faulty maf sensor shows up on vagcom or not as its still giving a signal just the wrong one? also would it have been possible for me to have built the vnt wrong or is there only one way they can go, they are moveing as i double check this when building the turbo wife just informed me the car has had no power for a few weeks before this all happened so the problem could have been there before the turbo problem.

Heated Mirrors And Washer Jets Help Please
ianyerman replied to ianyerman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Vehicle details please, and are you talking about the heated washer jets or actual washers not working. sorry, its seat alhambra mk2 2001 19tdi washer jets are working just freeze up -
Cant remember where i put the wires through, didnt drill any holes, just pushed it through a rubber bung i think, as for the glow plug i removed it got the numbers from it and ordered it from a motor factors, dont tell them what its for just give them the make and number of the plug, way cheaper than vw, seat and ford.
-
Not sure about the codes, take the glow plug out and replace and you will find the heater will kick into life, I removed the sensor up at the wipers and fitted a switch to it so can switch the heater on and off when I want. Hope this helps.
-
there was no visable broken wire, i used a multi meter and noticed there was power at the conector but none at the heater itself, found that the wire was broke at the conector but the insulation was still holding it on, also the conector was badly coroded inside so cut it out and joined the wires to totaly do away with the conector hope this helps

I had the same problem and it was a broken wire at the multi conector at the heater, also needed to replace the glow plug

Brake Vacuum Pipe Failed Mot
ianyerman replied to ianyerman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
problem sorted, cut the split ends off the vacuum pipe got some silicon pipe, cut about 2/3" lengths, placed them in a jug of boiling water to soften them up. Sliped them on to the ends of the pipe and to the brake servo and the same at the other end. Didnt need to use any pipe clips as they were a good tight fit. I also found a few other small pipes split at the ends so repaired them while i was at it. Made a quick call to the mot center (the joys of northern ireland mot centers) and got an appoitment 30mins later so was a rush to get there. The inspector didnt even look at it, just pressed the brake pedal a few times and that was it. Is it true that the vacuum controles the reculating flap for the heater? Mine wasnt working so I had to jam it open with a screw in through where the pollen filter is. -

Brake Vacuum Pipe Failed Mot
ianyerman replied to ianyerman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
errr nope mainly because of the possibility of the hose collapsing under load! its hard plastic for a reason ;) well was thinking that too but the thing is the vacuum is only millibars, so really it shouldnt have the power to collapse a good quality rubber pipe, you have the same vacuum all the time. it doesnt increase or decrease with the engine revs where as it does on a petrol engine. -
just failed mot cus the brake vacuum pipe is leaking, yea it looses vacuum after about 5 pumps of the brake pedal and brakes still passed the brake test. Anyway had a look at it and am thinking has anyone ever replaced this hard plastic pipe with rubberor silicone pipe? thanks.

Stop Brake Fault Service Manual
ianyerman posted a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have serached on here and havent found an answer for this so was woundering how others fixed it. Was driving along at about approx 25mph in my wifes alhambra when Stop Brake Fault Service Manual lights up on the dash and the handbrake light flashes. The wife says "oh yea its done that a few times" (thanks for telling me I thinks) about 15 seconds later it does the same, this lasts the rest of the journey home (3 mins at max) now I know the pads and discs are not low as I only put them on about 9 months ago. The abs light is working ok and the abs is still working, just the handbrake light flased. any body any ideas?
