Thankyou, On what basis would you choose the s max,and why steer away from the mk3,are the back two seats in the s max as sturdy as the back two in the gal mk 1.

Hi guys, We are due to replace our year 2000 galaxy in september,my 1.9 tdi has been ultra reliable and i have loved it. We will be looking at buying something around 4 years old,anything major i should look out for?,i have also fleetingly looked at the s max, any feedback greatly appreciated. :(

Hi guys havn't been here for a while,probably due to the reliability of the old gal.I was given a cool box for the car recently and wondered if it was for use when travelling only,or can it be used for longer periods e.g a weekend fishing trip :rolleyes: when obviously the gal will be switched off and stationary,or will it drain the battery.does it even work when the engine is switched off? cheers guys.

Chances are the wiper linkage system has seized,Known fault on the gal,looking at a couple of hundred if they have,welcome to the club :rolleyes:

Hi,i am about to tow a trailer for the first time next week but am unsure of the correct tyre pressures for the trailer,the info on the tyres says 4.80/4.00-8.I posted this on another forum i use and i got quotes from 30 to 60 p.s.i?.can anyone help. Thanks, Banjo. Dont ya love mi new tent.

Had a small scrape with a lampost today,considering the noise on impact i was happy with the relatively light damage to the bumper and slight scratch on the body above it which has gone through to the metal.Anybody know how much fraud would charge for a rear bumper on a mk1.

So why is it ford recommend first belt change 60k,but then every 40???,(or 5 years) My galaxy is ex fleet,all work was carried out at main dealers and first belt change was 60k.

You know a friend at work said the same thing,i didn't know if he was taking the mick or what.Must be some truth in it.

I wish the birds would stop pooing on my motor all the time.Thats what irritates me!!!! Had to clean it again yesterday.

The 60k service is the first timing belt interval :rolleyes: ,Then every 40k or 5 years whichever comes first,(so ford told me)

When you replaced the bulb,was it just the bulb you replaced?,which would seem a fiddly job,or does the new bulb come in its housing?,which would seem a trip to fords to get ripped off. :angry:

Thanks Fred,I know very little about cars as you can tell,Today i have learnt it is a mk1.replacement lens on order from local parts shop,the guy said they come as a package which also included summat that sits behind the lens(the reflecting metal perhaps?,cost 19.99 for one.Hate to think what dealers charge. I am getting better at diy,and have seen galaxy manuals on c.d for sale on e-bay,usually sell for a couple of quid,seems a sound investment for me :lol:

Thanks guys,do you mean the black plastic screw located on top of the headlight,if you look closely it looks as if there is a black arm which may be holding the indicator lens in place Fred. It is a mk1

My indictor lens has somehow developed a crack?? I cant see any screws etc to release it and dont believe just yanking it off is gonna help. One parts shop told me it was a dealer part,but another told me he would be able to get hold of one. Any help appreciated.

Paddy hopkirk 440L continental box with lock,used only once, i got for 70 pounds in the local rag. Surprisingly the bars are on order from main ford dealers,they are lockable and a friend of a friend who works there has put them in my pandy for 55 pounds. I think i did ok :(

Hello all,there are other posts on tyre pressures but i have found none for the 195/65.Had my galaxy for 12 months now and run them at half load f38 r35 full load f40 r44 on a recent trip to charlie browns for a new tyre,i asked the guy to put 38 in the new one(front),he said are you sure and explained he used to have a galaxy and ran his at a considerably lower pressure full or half load without ever having a problem.i am still running mine to spec,but the car feels bouncy.when getting ready for full load driving i am almost wincing at all that air in the tyres although i am only inflating them to spec. Wot do you run yours at?
