  1. Steve67car, Bleeno Thanks for your replies, and apologies for the delay in replying - my PC has had problems, some of which are fixed. Steve - car is Silver metallic, with cloth intrior, basically Grey trim. Thanks for the .pdf. Good system diagrams, though more detail of rear console fitment would have been helpful - I still dont understand why the manufacturer filled asymetric tags to the upper rear unit (it only comes out by releasing the r.h.s. tag - the left tag s not designed to release etc. I have not been able to look at the multimedia problem recently as the Galaxy is currently being pressed into use as a "removals van" - try that with a MkIII !. Regards David H.
  2. Stev Thanks for your fast response. I am not sure if one of my typo's has mislead, my Galaxy is a MkII TDi Ghia with the multimedia option. The Ford mini users guide confirms that its a Visteon unit. I shall check the radio connections (continued discontent from the back seat crew) Since the ord Dealership is closed today - do you happen to know if the multimedia unit is covered by the Ford standard 3 year car warrantee. If not, and if the unit has to be replace, the thread infers that some recommend an alternative system at around the same cost. Please advise. Also does it muck up / increase significantly vehicle insurance. Regards DaveJH
  3. Charlie et al Connectors located (two on light grey leads, obne on a black lead). Careful inspection of the unit multimedia unit this morning shows: monitor screens off - no respone to remote or pushing the "screens " button on the unit. DVD still stuck in the unit. however pressing the "eject" button on the unit results is a very quite whirr sound, followed by a very quiet click-like noise like a disc head seek - but no ejection of the disc. Regards DaveJH
  4. Mumof4 Thanks for the info - I shall certainly send him an emailor call. Regards DaveJH
  5. Mumof4 Thanks for the suggestion - presumably that means unscrewing the trash hopper in the top of the rear multimedia console and having a look below - or is there another connector elsewhere to seek out ? Regards DavdeJH
  6. While driving home this afternoon the DVD player was working fine showing a DVD film on both screens - when suddenly objections from rear seat passengers - the DVD player appeared to have stopped working, both screens blank, no response to controls or remote, and DVD disc stuck in the player. Fuse 10 OK, and The 12v aux socket adjacent to the dvd player is fine. Constructive ideas welcome. Regards DaveJH
  7. My 2005 reg 150 bhp TDI appears to have suddenly developed clutch slip at 25k miles (my previous Galaxy did 130k without problems). Typical symptom occur when driving in 5th or 6th gear at say 2000 rpm: when accelerating hard the revs rise distinctly (sometimes by up to 600 rpm) but the speed remains fairly flat until the clutch appears to rebite and the revs suddenly drop back. Any suggestions, confirmations or advice please before I book it in to Fords when they reopen after Easter. Regards DaveJH
  8. Andymet Thanks for your reply. I shall contact Sandicliff and pick up a set when I am next in Loughborough Regards DaveJH
  9. I have convertor mask template for MK II non-zenon headlights. Previous posts had suggested using clip on plastic protectors plus convertors - my preferred option if available. I enquired at my local Ford dealers today- their Parts Dept claimed that Ford no longer supply protectors as the headlight lenses are plastic anyway. My query is whether this is correct position - if not, can some friendly member please provide a Ford part number. (VW certainly still sell protectors, but VW headlights are a different shape). Thanks in advance for any advice DaveJH
  10. wait for the new Sharan, as this is the true successor to the present Galaxy / Sharan / Alhambra. I examined the new Galaxy at my local Ford Dealership yetserday and compared it with my current Mk1 2000 Galaxy. Lower seating position, five poor fold-flat seats, flimsy floor when all seats lowered and the fiddly bits of flaps and plastic studs have been played about with. No chance of creating a 4-seat rear cabin with corridor. No reversing front seats. Crucially, no ability to strip out the seats and turn it into a temporary removals van. In my current Galaxy, with seats removed, I can sit on the floor pan and raise my arm straight above my head (with fist clenched). In the new one, when I sit on the floor pan I can just squeeze my fist above my head. The first time anyone tried to put a decent laod in it the airplane-style overhead minilockers will be stripped straight off. The new Galaxy is not a replacement for the old one, its a different vehicle for a different market. When VM designed the Touran, they forgot the need to have a flat floor when the seats were folded 'flat'. Tim Span, is there any evidence that the New Sharan will indeed be a replacement for the Galaxy ? Regards DavdJH
  11. Raymac Was your your condenser and regas repair satisfactory. Do you feel able to recommend your Brum sepecialist air con shop ? Did they diagnose the original problem or did you prescribe the repair ? Regards DaveJH
  12. Neilb, Neil Wiles. Thanks for helpful suggestions: I shall get the fault codes read / or check the accelerator sensor with DVM, then go on to the wastegate and finally MAF (the MAF was replaced at 97k so may be Ok - though that is now some 14k distant) DaveJH
  13. My 2000 reg Galaxy 1.9 TDI 110 bhp has recently started to develop intermittent and very short term (typically 2 - 4 second) loss of loss of power typically when accelerating on a motorway slip lane, when starting to overtake, or when cruising at say 60 - 70 on a motorway. The problem occurs perhaps at most once or twice on a 90-mile journey. At all other times the engine seems OK, runs moothly, and pulls relatively well. I would welcome any advice. Dave-JH
  14. Thanks guy's for the various forms of advice. I shall remove the plastic surrounds from the steering column and try and pinpoint the source of the problem at the weekend. Dave JH
  15. Problem: when turning the steering wheel, a loud plastic-ish click/clunk sound from the plastic housing just below the steering wheel. The problem has only just started, and the sound occurs at any speed, and seems independent of indicator position. Any suggestions as to the cause or cure would be much appreciated. DaveH. Vehicle: 1999 Galaxy 1.9 TDI (110 bhp)
