Bad Earth To Speedo? Where Do I Start

hi guys, I have a 02 galaxy 1.9 tdi with much the same problem, the speedo and fuel gauge stop and start intermittently but when i turn the parking lights on and drive the car they work perfectly, I also have a dodgy passenger side electric window! Looking forward to any help. T.J
