Thanks for both your replys, have now fixed the problem. My wife had the car when the problem happened, after recovery service took car to local garage she remembered that the key had come apart in two!! It seems that the remote alarm was playing up again, so she unlocked the door manually. At this point the blade part of the key came away from the horse shoe part of the key. I took key apart again, and yes the pat chip was missing, so 11pm last night i was in a supermarket car park looking for a needle in a haystack. After 10 mins of looking in the dark with a torch, i some how found it ( still cant believe it now ). Put chip back in to remote key, and car started first time. Im now going to glue chip in key, also going to buy a second remote key.
