There are quite a few already-converted Galaxys going through autotrader each week, saving me the bother of getting it done myself. There's an Ultima in Coventry for 3k at the mo but it seems to be a bit high on the miles for the money. That's why I'd prefer to get a good low mileage, looked after machine and convert it myself. Once they get converted, the miles pile on! The only thing that worries me is the reliability. There don't seem to be many FSH cars around. BMWs and SAABs seem to be more main dealer serviced (which is my alternative). I don't really need a Galaxy, I just like it for the space to fit mountain bikes and camping gear inside. An estate would probably do the job.

I'm currently investigating the possibility of buying a low mileage V6 and converting to Lpg as opposed to getting a diesel. I don't want to start a flame war, as I saw the battle you had last August over mpgs and lpg vs diesel! I'd like to hear from any owners of V6 lpg converted vehicles. How do they drive? Any recommended converters etc? I've seen plenty of V6s with under 80k on the clock for no more than 2 grand and lpg conversion prices from 1350 to 1700. The fuel prices are now getting ridiculous but LPG still seems quite cheap. I currently drive an extra long wheelbase Mitsubishi Delica 2.8 TD and get about 25mpg which is probably about the same as a V6 manual combined consumption. So, any V6 gassers like to tell me how it is?

Thanks for that! I do like the MK2 cosmetics and hate the MK1 interiors so high miles and newer is the way I'll probably go! Most of the MK2s seem to have dark tinted rear windows, was this a factory option? Are there any exotic Galaxys such as 4x4 or Ultima?

Hi all, I'm settled on getting a manual diesel Galaxy (or Alhambra/Sharan) and have few questions. I have approx 3.5k to spend, maybe more. That limits me to old and low miles or newer and high miles. All things being equal such as full service history, cambelt, aircon done etc, which do you reckon is best? I've seen 2001/2002 models under 4k with high motorway miles. I need a cheap, economical high-volume vehicle but I like the comforts. I prefer the cosmetics and seating of the newer models. 1. High miles and newer or low miles and older? 2. Galaxy, Sharan or Alhambra? 3. 90bhp or 115bhp? 4. 5 speed or 6 speed? 5. any gems in the range with loads of toys for low money? 6. any year to avoid? 7. what's the best one for home servicing? I have a 1995 extra long wheelbase Mitsubishi Delica at the moment, if anyone fancies a swap, let me know!
