  1. Hi Team, Has anyone had any cruise control issues? My problem is intermittant. sometimes when engaged and either the decrease or increase speed button is pressed, cruise control disengages. The system has to be reset before it will engage again and then the same happens again. On another journey, it will function normally and wont miss a beat. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved! Jon
  2. Hi Tony, Nothing to add I am affraid. With regard to the global opening button, I am fairly confident that it was nothing to do with the button being inadvertently pushed as it needs to be pressed and held for a short while. I guess there is a possibility that the remote has a fault but it has not happened again since! Sorry I can't help further. Jon
  3. Jon, I would love to hear if you got any response to this. My wife took our mk3 59 plate out today and told me all of the windows came down to varying degrees by the time she got back to the car - all by themselves after the car was locked. Its baking hot here and no rain for days. Been searching everywhere and there are responses about wet circuits etc, but that can't be the case here. Hope it was an isolated case for you and all now resolved. Any advice from other forum people gratefully received. Thanks, Tony
  4. Hi All, Searched the site for this one with little success, so any thoughts would be much appreciated! My wife used our 2007 mk111 on Saturday evening, parked up at home and locked the car as normal with all windows closed. She then went to the car on Sunday morning to find all the windows down. The car was still locked and the alarm armed, it went off when one of my kids put their hand in through the window! She used the car again on Sunday afternoon, on completing her journey, she turned the engine off and removed the key and the offside rear window started to go up and down by itself. It stopped after about 4 cycles and the car was locked without further incident. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Jon
  5. Hi Si, A stupid question perhaps but have you checked to see if 1 of the sensors has some dirt or a large bug on it? I once had a bee stuck on 1 and it gave the problem you have described! Jon
  6. Get it changed now and tell them that the steering goes a bit heavy sometimes. If you don't, you will forget about it and the warranty will expire! Also, it's something you don't want to wait until it fails. As I said before, they know it is an issue. I believe it is something to do with the hydraulic oil inlet filter to the pump being too restrictive! Jon
  7. Hi Dave, Galaxy 2.0TDCI Ghia 2007 Just had my pump changed as I started to hear a very faint whining, also the steering sometimes felt heavy for the first few miles after the morning start. After reading the forum, there are many entries referring to this problem and seemingly it is one of the many known faults. As my warranty runs out in April, I reported it and there was no hesitation from Ford in replacing it, which is probably a good indication that they are aware of a problem! Hope this helps Jon
  8. Thanks for the link! Does anyone know if this is a warranty replacement item or will they say it is not covered as it is a lamp?? Thanks in advance. Jon
  9. My experiences are the same as Nick, although I havn't done a full winter yet. It can take a while on a hot day with the car full of pax, to cool down but when it does it is fine. I guess thats why there is an option to fit a rear evaporator for the airccon system. You probably know but when you initially turn the air con on, on a hot day it is best to open the windows slightly to help remove the residule heat from the car! Jon
  10. Thanks for the comments. Jet fuel has no colour to it so the issue of the dipped tank is fairly safe. I know a fair amount about gas turbine and petrol engines but my diesel experience is sadly limited! I have been told that modern common rail diesel engines use a very small high pressure pump, unlike the old diesels this requires very little lubrication. Due to the cost and limited availability of aviation petrol (Avgas), many light aircraft manufacturers are installing diesel engines that run on aviation grade kerosene (Avtur, Jet A1 etc). I was assuming that the systems would be very similar. Thankfully it was not my house that was crashed into but I do have access to Jet A1 (legally)! Hence the original question. Thanks again
  11. Does anyone know of any technical reason why one should not use aviation grade jet A1 kerosene either mixed or neat in a 2.0 TDCI Gal III? It is used in aviation diesel engines and assume it would be ok!
  12. Thanks Gary! I share your concerns about the wife and the 3 kids in the back! We are driving to Ireland this weekend, loaded up to the max I guess. I really need that space saver! I dont want to be buying a roof box to put a full size rim and tyre into. The car looks just fine without it!! Jon
  13. Thanks Andy, the day I joined the forum my wife called me to say that a large piece of metal had trashed the NS rear! Luckily I had just added her to the AA but when taken to a tyre dealer by the AA you have no choice but to pay the full retail price as the car has to be fixed. Boy are these tyres expensive. I was hoping to find a space saver that would fit as that should sit in the back quite nicely but i have now realised that it doesn't have a jack either. I think Ford have missed the point a bit on this subject. Overall we are really pleased with the Galaxy!
  14. Hi, I have a 07 2.0TDCI Ghia and was amazed to find no spare wheel is fitted, just the repair kit! Should have read the small print! Has anyone found a space saver wheel to fit (16'' alloys are fitted) for those long journeys when you are in the middle of no where and you have just shredded a tyre! Thanks in advance Jon
