  1. Thanks for that insider. I fear that we may end up having to go down that route unless it can be solved. Car goes back again tomorrow so fingers crossed.
  2. Bought gal (98 2.3 ghia x) from car dealer (not ford). after collecting it car would kangaroo badly when engine not under much load, eg at 30 in 3rd. car gone back 3 times. has had new MAF and some pipes? replaced but problem persists. Dealer says Ford have told him common in 10 year old gals and tough to cure. dealer feels he's tried enough. Just want car to work as otherwise its great. Any advice on how to get this cured?
  3. Oh dear, three posts in and ive hit a bone of contention already. Wanted to disabale it as Daughter (7) likes to ride shotgun when doing six hour runs to th'ills of lancashire. Have seen a lot about airbags not being designed with kids in mind and theyre safer without them. Can understand how its a tricky subject. No doubt some have been helped while others hurt by them. (Same can probably be said of adults too). An imperfect world....etc Cheers
  4. Hello everyone. Have had my gal for 3 weeks now and so far it's spent more time back at the dealers i got her from than on my driveway. Gradually getting there though. Having a MAF fitted to hopefully cure kangaroo hiccups and a squeely starter motor. Few bits of advice if people can help please. I want to tidy up the 'wear and tear' of tens years. Is there a recommended online source for trim such as drivers sunvisor and drivers interior door handle trim? Plus I need to obtain an owners handbook (otherwise half of what the dashboard is trying to tell me will remain an eternal mystery). Also can anyone tell me if there should be covers of some sort beneath the two front seats? My wife and I are shorties (compensated for with huge car!) but with both seats well forward there are unsightly wells beneath them. Also, is it easy to disable to front passenger airbag? Thanks for any advice offered. This website is fab by the way. So many people happy to help each other out. Cheers
  5. Thanks for the reply Nicpv. By the looks of other posts and replys Etiquette like 'thanks' doesnt seem to be required much so wont do it again. Seems as though a bit of banter and piss taking is more the expectation. Definately a 1998 R 2.3 Anyway expensive isnt good so will leave well alone and hope I dont get any ominous rattling.
  6. Hello Galaxy people. I used to own an Espace but im better now. Have just bought R reg 2.3Ghia. We (the family) love the car, but have yet to decide if we love the dealer we got her from. Car going back for second time in first two weeks due to kangarooing when engine not under load. Have read many forums (arent I good?) and dealer is replacing the MAF which seems like a good bet. Fingers crossed. Main question right now is sort of covered in other topics but varying answers. Cam chain. Haynes manual says replace at 80,000 miles. Some forums say leave until noisy. Others say it'll last the car. Paranoid about failure having lost an Astra (pre dog and kid) and the espace to cam belt failure. Anyone know the sort of cost of replacement and is it a good precaution or pointless?
