Oh by the way, where is the drier unit located, I guess I should change that at the same time as I fit the new compressor??

Many thanks, don't know why I didn't think of the clutch not engaging if there is no connection!! Was going to leave the car with no air-con for a while as the engine is so much quiter now the comp is out (I guess its been on its way out for a while) but the hot weather means its going back in this weekend. Hi all, I have a MKII 51 plate Galaxy with a 2.3 petrol engine. The aircon comp on the car gave up the ghost and is currently running with the compressor removed. I have ordered the replacement compressor, the question I have is can I run the car without gas in the aircon to get me somewhere to have it gassed?? I know it sounds like a stupid question but do I risk the new compressor getting damaged as I know they put oil in the system when they gas it? Thanks in advance John
