  2. Hi All, I felt a bit of a t**t the other day when I raised a question about Galaxii having a belt or a chain. Either way all sorted now. Car is being booked in to have this done asap. ?? I know that when this is done it is normal to have the water pump replaced, but is it normal to also have the tensioner replaced. Secondly what is usual cost of this job. I am being quoted EUR587 inc.VAT This being Ireland I am full sure that anyone in UK will be horrified at this but would be interested to know anyway. Finally thanks to all who offered opinion when I posted my question some days ago. D
  3. I must seem very Staid. But I would rarely rev over 3k anyway. I certainly don't drive at those revs. (75mph is approx 2200rpm in sixth. I don't actually know what happens if I revved that hard!! D
  4. Morning all. I am puzzled on this, and have been for some time. My dealer is adamant that the Galaxy I have does not have a timing belt. They are definitive in claiming it has a chain 2003 1.9TDI 115PS Zetec I have checkede this with them carefully as the mileage at which I would expect to change the belt has long since past. Current miles 87K. Is he wrong? Are there certain versions which have a chain?? Comments much appreciated. D
  5. Ladies, ( I think) many thanks for your welcome. I look forward to chipping in on items that pick my fancy. D
  6. Hello all, Just joined the forum. I am on my second Galaxy. Both 115PS Zetec. The first was a 2001 and the second is a 2003. Current mileage 84k. 2 kids, Wife and Mother in Law. I have noted a few threads of interest - the issue with loss of power due to Turbo clogging up with soot. This happened on the first car but hasn't happened on the current one. I asked a friend who is a mechanic and his solution was to rev engine for a few mins at about 2.5k revs. Alternatively go for a "good" spin. The other is to do with the auxiliary heater. I have two questions. 1. Is the gear box or final drive different on Galaxii from 2003 Plus. I note revs at 70mph is approx 200 lower than was on 2001 car. 2. I live in Ireland. I couldn't find a link to select when registering. I hope I am permitted to belong the forum. D
  7. I am new to this forum but have owned two Galaxii over the last 6 years or so. I have until now only been able to get the Dunlops as they were the onyl readfily available reinforced tyres suitable for the car. Ireland Mileage per tyre 20k - 30 k basically drive 10 - 15K on front and can often get another 20k on rear. Must get reinforced as if using lower spec apart from MOT issues the car will "eat the tyres. D
